Hi, I'm having troubles with my iPod as of this afternoon.

I have iPodLinux and that boots up fine. iPod Firmwire loads up fine, but sometimes takes a few seconds to cache a music file (but hey it still plays my music). When I plug it in to a computer it detects and starts charging but instead of coming up with a drive named 'iTuxPod' its 'Removable Drive' and explorer freezes when I try to do anything with it (even right-clicking on it).
chkdsk crashes after a while and iPod Updater freezes.

Anyone know how to fix it? Coz I have important uni stuff on there which I did today :(

Well it was working fine on the uni PC i was using then all of a sudden when I try to copy the work I had been doing to my iPod (it was only a tiny bit of work so it didn't matter) it started screwing up, despite using it 10 mins earlier. So I tried different USB ports on that pc but it didn't work.

I tried doing a diagnostic thingo on the iPod. The HDD R/W test succeeds, the HDD temp is normal. When I run the HDD Scan test it starts the hdd and sounds a pattern like this (where 't' means a hdd reading ticky sound thingo):
t t t ttttt - t t t ttttt and just repeats that ticking pattern.

The thing is that all of the iPodLinux stuff seems to work fine. but when i hook it up to a pc it fks up.

Reckon it could be the cable? I would try it on the firewire cable but I have no ports.

err... Disk Management thinks its a healthy unformatted partition. wtf!
iPodLinux boots and I can browse through all my existing files.

I think it might be the cable, coz I've accidently run over it once or twice :P I suppose they'll charge $8,126,045 for a new cable, just coz they can :S

Oh... for some reason I assumed because you were running linux on your pod you would be using it on your pc too... doh.

D'you know someone else with an iPod? Take it to their place and try it on their pc maybe?
