So i was in the city waiting for my bus on Adelaide street near st vinnies and this old drunk guy in like his granddaddy years was picking on this black immigrant and kicking at him, so i walk over and tell him to f*** off and leave him alone and the guy starts yelling at me calling me a slack ass student who scums dole money and the usual crap *btw I’m nothing of the sort, i work full time and have done so for the past 3 years, i do look a bit rough around the edged with a beard and long ratty*
then he goes to grab my little goatee beard and i push his hand away, felt like a reflex at the time, then his other hand comes up and smacks me in the face, i then out of no where and completely out of my nature proceed to hit him in the head several times, he had 2 buddies there who just stood there and dragged him off once i started getting to him. i was spazed out in shock and very disorientated and some guy who works in a restaurant near by came over and gave me some ice. the kid got up and gave me a thankful look and took off and then my bus rocked up and i just ran onto it crawled up in the corner. what f***ing took me by surprise was the a****** d*******s waiting for there bus while all this was happen, they just stood there not saying anything or doing anything. I f***ING HATE PEOPLE. Looking back on it all I probably should of went to the cops or something but seeing as the kid ran off and the old a****** causing trouble was no where to be seen I guess no harm can come from it, either way I still cant believe anyone did anything. /end emo rant |

Groydis,
Welcome to Humanity (not always a glowing report) PS: If you feel bad about reacting to that situation when it involved an old person who sounds like an asshat. I would have dropped the c***.
If i was there watching the whole thing, i would have helped you bash him only cos he was being a racist... but normally i couldn't care and wouldn't step in... cos the city at night time is full of scums and drunks. I'd bring the popcorn out and watch... Bumfight Comes to brisbane. you manyaks |

f*** bystander effect. Last time I actually did help someone, someone decided to try and fight me for it instead. Therefore, you can bleed to death in front of me next time for all I care, someone else can help and I'll just keep walkin. Besides, you don't have to render help if you feel the situation is threatening/endangering to yourself, easy to argue in court if somehow you were pulled up for walking by something like that. Boxhead pretty much said it right a long time ago in another thread, don't help anyone unless absolutely necessary. last edited by Loki at 09:39:34 08/Apr/06 |

Last time I actually did help someone, someone decided to try and fight me for it instead. That's no good. I'm assuming there must have been some kind of a misunderstanding for that to happen though (?). Difficult situations are also made more difficult when ppl are drunk at the time. I don't think most ppl would be like that sober. Besides, you don't have to render help if you feel the situation is threatening/endangering to yourself True. And although I abhor violence (as I believe Groydis does too), I think it says a lot about his character for him to stand up and do something *even* though there probably were better ways of going about it (though these "better" ways are sometimes more difficult to mediate in such situations). last edited by Agent 99 at 09:53:27 08/Apr/06 |

yeah im not one to usually snap into violence when pushed, maybe verbal abuse but im not the kind of guy who likes to get in fisty fights.
and yeah the black kid who was 16 or under was getting kicked in the legs and shins by the old dude. as soon as i saw what was going on i didnt even have to think about going over there and telling him to f*** off, and as soon as he hit me i didnt have to think about hitting him and thats what disturbs me, the fact i didnt think about throwing the punch before i did. i dont regret my actions but it makes me ponder what kind of damage i could do in that kind of situation not to someone else but to myself. i could understand trying to ignore you typical friday night drunk fight between 2 teenagers, but this was something far worse that shouldnt be ignored. |

not at all. "racist" is a character trait, and its compleatly different for hating someone because of there character traits(who they really are) then the colour of there skin.(what they look like) |

were they good hits or just little faggy ones, lol imagine just putting on a king hit on some seventy year old hahaha well they felt like i put alot into them the first one was an upwards swing to his face the rest i was hammering down into his head as he kind of put his head down for cover. whilst i say they were hard hits my knuckles didnt get cut but my hand was sore for a while afterwards, it feels fine today and there is no bruising, to me that suggests the punches were not hard at all, in saying that im not very strong and in saying that it was still enough to hurt him. He has a point, when you confront someone who is obviously a bit violent you should be ready for them to start throwing punches, i.e. "get some street smarts" yeah most cases id say you are right, in other cases a nice firm f*** off is all you need. kay, so nice story, but what does any of this have to do with racism? The guy was black, big deal. That doesn't mean anything was racially motivated. it was clearly racially motivated as the old guy was yelling racial slurs at the black kind My money's on the old dude saying "ya black..." etc you are on the money there, every sentence started with "ya black...." and then when he verbally fired up at me it was "ya dumb..." |

Reminds me of the story a couple of weeks back about that aboriginal elder who had the fit at the bus stop at UQ I think it was, no one stopped to look to see if she needed a hand. I don't know if it was because she was black that no body stopped to look or if it was that people just don't care in general.

Good on you groydis for standing up to the guy. Can't say I'd have done the same thing but after reading about the bystander effect I now know why. :-)

Soo....
Groydis is knocking this old guy out Tyson styles, when some one comes around the corner and sees that happening, they dont know whats gone on before hand and why Groydis is beating this old guy senseless .... Butterfly effect kgo. Prolly would have been a bit better to ask what was going on, before telling him to f*** off. The kid MAY have stolen something from him (i doubt it though) and he was raging at him for that, then all of a sudden there is a young guy telling him off for sticking up for him self against this black kid ... etc etc etc ... But props to ya mate - i would have done the same thing.. Hindsight is a wonderfull thing :P Edited for typo's |
