Looks like crap with all the lines thru it. Would be better off using a projector.

obviously you would sit a fair way back, I'm sure the lines wouldn't really matter at that size.

and those who read the link would realise its at some tech lab at a uni.

Way to read the linked article faghat.

Still, the custom wc2 clone on the bottom of the page is better.

Question about projectors (I know someone had one in my setup thread but I wont bump that) but are they any good in the daylight hours or do you need to have the room pitch black to get the best effect from them?

TK:
Depends on the luminosity of the lamp itself. We use ours during the day in the lounge room but we have wooden blinds & thick curtains (ie blankets) which really kill the light

Tanaka, I wouldn't watch a dark movie on a projector unless the curtains completely block out light. I find the slightest leakage makes the image hard to see.

Not bad for brighter movies but it makes movies like Doom (omgdarklol) and LOTR or any night horror/zombie flick pretty much unwatchable.

^ yah, good point actually if you don't have a really high end projector (ie $$$ money on lamp type)

^ Indeed. It would probably be cheaper investing a few hundred dollars in more effective curtains (once-off cost) than an expensive lamp (recurring cost).

But man .. projectors still blow me away.

They say 1000 hours yet you can actually get up to around 3000 before bulb actually fries (literally)
After 1000 hours dimming begins, cept it isn't so noticeable as its a gradual occurence

It is a stupid game to have that kind of setup, they are pushing important information into your peripheral vision. Would have prefered some type of racing or flight simulation game.

Can you project onto a curved screen to get the curved effect this monitor wall has?

Recently got a acer dlp from bigw was on special for $870, it does input up to 1080i but native res is 800x600 does awesome job for movies plus side is lamps are only $300, and life expectancy is about 3000 hours, and TK i do use it with binds closed and light still comming in from the kitchen and other areas during the day and its very viewable still, but best expernice is definatly in pitch back.

my only gripe with the DLP is rainbow ghosting when you see high motion, but only 3 out 7 people can acutally see this, damnit why do i have to be one of those 3.

See thats what would put me off of a projector, the light issue. But you guys that use them, do you purely use them for movies, or do you run games and general pc usage with them too?
