New research seems to suggest the we are indeed still evolving.

Providing the strongest evidence yet that humans are still evolving, researchers have detected some 700 regions of the human genome where genes appear to have been reshaped by natural selection, a principal force of evolution, within the last 5,000 to 15,000 years.

The genes that show this evolutionary change include some responsible for the senses of taste and smell, digestion, bone structure, skin color and brain function.

Many of these instances of selection may reflect the pressures that came to bear as people abandoned their hunting and gathering way of life for settlement and agriculture, a transition well under way in Europe and East Asia some 5,000 years ago.

Though I don't share your beliefs, I can understand that they're important to you and i respect that. It's when people start spouting utter nonsense (young earth creation) that rational people start labelling you those things, because it's clear that you place a higher value in blind-faith than observable reality.

This should not come as a surprise to anyone with any basic knowledge of genetics. Random genetic drift, natural selection and random mutations are all constantly (as in every second) changing the gene frequency of humans. Why the article needed to be written I have no idea. No new information.

Macro and micro evolution are exactly the same thing. The terms were made by the Russian entomologist Iurii Filipchenko in 1927 to reconcile the discovery of DNA with evolution.

Somehow though, the terms have been hijacked by the young earth creatioists, stripped of their original meaning and used as a loophole for them to cling to their bronze-age mythology while masking thier cognitive dissonance by acknowledging the indisputable fact of evolution.

It also gives them the loophole necessary to still be able to use modern medicine (anti-biotics especially) without feeling like massive hypocrits. Because hey, even the most diehard fundie knows deep down that the man upstairs isn't going to cure their kid's nasty middle-ear infection.

Evolution in Humans is Dead

evolution is a bias towards a certain trait in a species to allow it to reproduce more. This doesn't happen in humans anymore, ppl are reproducing for the heck of it, not because the alpha male is beating his chest the hardest or because he can protect his women better. The nerdiest guys are reproducing just as much, so are the dead set losers.

evolution is simply the change in the genetics of a population itself, it doesn't have to be directed

a shift in what traits are more likely to be carried into the sucessive generations is evolution, even if its not what you'd consider for the best.

wouldn't the different circumstances just change what qualities natural selection is preferring? As in 5000 years ago the biggest, strongest male got all teh poon cause he could feed niggas by killing mammoths and whatnot, whereas nowadays intelligence would be preferred because it gets you phat lewt? Then again there are alot of retards who are breeding so maybe not.
