Okay I fixed bf2 and now I want to play co-op. I downloaded codebasher's 4.0 distro thingy and copied it to the right directory, and then ran install.bat. It says in the instructions that the way you start a game is in the single player menu, but when I go into it there are only the 16 player maps when I thought there were meant to be 32 player ones :/

Can someone please tell me how to work this thing because I think I just suck.

From memory, I think that you still only see "16 player" from the menu, yet when you join a game, you have the full 32 player etc

With any luck, COdeBasher will see your post an answer himself!

You can already play co-op without any patches. Just click on Multiplayer --> Local Game and create a game with or without bots and your friend will be able to join too!

I think I'm missing something. ahh I don't think you can create a local game with bots unless you patched it.. meh i dunno.

I play on the internet with my m8's. Much more fun than playing noob bots :/

I don't play BF2, but I think the point of the 3rd party patch was to increase the player/bot limit on all maps to 32 and to increase the map size and add extra vehicles, etc.

3rd party patch was made by our very own COdeBasher as well

It'll work up to version 1.02 but ever since 1.03 and onwards EA have completely knobbled any attempt at getting COOP to work in any stable fashion

:(

Still trying ... *sigh*

Anyhow try the following instead.
=================================

Install BF2 and update to 1.02

Create a dir called BF2 coop elsewhere on tht drive

copy everything over from your BF2 install

Install coop as per instructions on your copied dir. yes read them.

create a shortcut to runme.bat in the coop mod dir in the copied version of bf2

then you can upgrade the orginal and use it on the net and use the COOP version in lans.

I've only tested it quickly but the approach seems to work.

In short you'll have two BF2 installs. An official one and a LAN version.

hope it helps
