We have ADSL and one of our phones has a line filter (as well as there being a central filter) and one doesn't. Can not having a filter on a phone break the phone at all?

If you've got a central splitter installed you shouldn't need any line filters at all. In any case it won't break your phone, only potentially cause your net connection to drop out but as mentioned a central filter should solve that problem anyway. Only things that can tend to screw with a line with a filter on the line are PABX systems and security/alarm systems on the phone line.

If you've got a central splitter installed you shouldn't need any line filters at all. We didn't until we got a new ADSL modem. Just wanting to make sure that the noise can't hurt the phones in any way and if it starts getting bad we just have to put in a line filter and not worry about any long term effect on the phone. ive got a few differnet line filters here and ive noticed that while they all work, they affect my iinet speeds quite substantially
picked up 1000mps by stopping using the netcomm one i had and using some dodgy old looking dual splitter thingy! |
