I spend far too much money on consoles.

I currently have

Gamecube
PS2
Xbox
DS
Gameboy Micro
PSP

The amount of time I current play the consoles would go from highest to lowest

DS
Gameboy Micro
Gamecube
PS2
Xbox
PSP

I use the Xbox the most for Media Centre, but I don't really play games on it anymore. I haven't touched my PSP for months - I was thinking about selling it but it's not worth the effort.

Super nintendo (the best console ever)
Sega mega drive (with master system converter)
Playstation

Too many games to even mention.

Wasnt to interested in consoles after the playstation, the graphics sucked and rather play better PC games.

Still wanna get a gamecube though, they are a bargain at the moment.

Everyone should buy a Gamecube for like $90 or something stupid - and then buy all the awesome games that everyone should play.

Resident Evil 4
Metroid Prime 1 & 2
Eternal Darkness
Paper Mario and
Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker & the New one when it comes out

That would cost around $400-$450...and would keep you occupied for a VERY long time :)

I would quite like an Xbox for a media centre... but if I was going to go to that effort I may as well just use my old PC that is just collecting dust at the moment.

ive got the only console that matters
XBOX (modded, media centre goodness)

we've got a ps2 sitting around gathering dust, but it has nothing to offer us

on our xbox we can and do play pretty much any console that came before (n64, megadrive, nes)

we've got a ps1 as well, but its gathering even more dust than the ps2

Like trog, I am not getting anything new for a while now. I really want to see the lay of the land when the Ps3 is released. Then I'll sell my stuff cheap to some lucky ho on here.

:P

PC is where it is at for me though for gaming, I am leaning towards the ps3 at the mo because of the reported Blu-Ray support it is *cough* alledgedly going to have.

Yeah, finding a worthwhile Playstation 2 unique title was was difficult for me too. I find it increasingly difficult to justify owning the damn thing myself.

Dreamcast rocks, I still have mine but the power plug in the back is dodgy so it randomly resets itself :( Should get it fixed one day I guess.

I've been playing a lot of XBox lately, mainly because my PC has been f***ed for going on a month. Prince of Persia: Two Thrones and Burnout: Revenge ftw. Imo a modded XBox is the clear winner of this generation of consoles, its just so amazingly versatile! I sold my PS2 because it was just gathering dust. Theres been a couple of exclusives since then that I wouldn't have minded playing, like MGS4 or God of War, but nothing I've lost sleep over. Most of the stuff I want to play makes its way to XBox eventually anyway and looks better by the time it gets there :P

I had a Gamecube as well, but sold that too, it was gathering more dust than the PS2. The only reason I had one was for the RE games, and the only reason I wish I still had one is for RE4, but oh well.

I've got access to a DS, and will soon have access to a 360 (my brother has pre-ordered one), so that'll be cool. Hes got that VIP kit with PD0 and the extra controller, and hes pre-ordered PGR3 and Kameo. I've been trying to convince him to pre-order Oblivion as well, thats some sexy looking RPG, also, Patrick Stewart.

I'm not all that interested in the Rev or the PS3 yet, not in a "haha Rev and PS3 suck" kind of way, just because I haven't read enough about either of them to really be interested and I'm not willing to fill my pants with love jizz over this fancy new controller the Rev has till I've tried it out for myself. I'm sure we'll get inundated with Rev and PS3 info come E3 time this year though.

since pictures speak a thousand words :)

Things that aren't in the picture: 2x NES, Sega Megadrive + Megacd + 32X, Sega Saturn & the commodore 128 (although technically not a console.. I've never used one for anything other than gaming)..

wtb: sega nomad (aka Portable Genesis/Megadrive only released in the US), a Neo Geo, an atari 2600 (the woody would be nice, but even the old black plastic one would do) + some other odds & ends to add to the collection...

sc00bs - 2 of the PS1s are spares and the two NES consoles are in pieces currently as neither work very well - looking at investing on replacement cartrdige contacts for one of them (as I can't find a top-loading NES to use instead of them)..

Hehe I actually bought one of these babies, (AmigaCD32), when I had an Amiga 1200 with a 1942 multisycn monitor. Man I was bleeding edge then as well.

wow... the cd32! Only ever read up about those babies, never thought they actually made it to release.. I also remember the "console" commodore 64 that was being touted at one point - a C64 that was cartridge based - one of the early issues of the old Commodore Format mag had a writeup about it & how it was going to change teh face of C64 gaming.. Of course, I don't think it ever made it off the ground :(

Ahh - here it is! The C64GS - only released in Europe.. Didn't know that.. Off to ebay I go!

yep and to bring it all into perspective with today's console prices, I paid something like $450 for it and that was about 1984/5 round abouts then. a s***load in those days and as that article said it was basically an Amiga 1200 computer in a box, only diff was you could play it on a tv ect.. I cant remeber the title that I played most on it, but it was a MYST like game that had these static images with some clickable areas on, some puzzle solving ect...from memory it was based on Greek mythology ect..but it was 'bleeding edge' video game as the called them in those days and it looked awesome. By todays standards you wouldn't even give it a second glance.

:P

Oh and 'Beneath a Steel Sky' was also brilliant for its time on this machine. ah the memories.

last edited by Psycho! at 01:25:48 20/Feb/06

Holy s***..I just did a nostalgic search for Beneath a Steel Sky and discover that Revolution games, tricked it up with a new engine and re-released the full game as freeware in 2003. Link over here if you are interested

Might play this one for old times sake. :P

I thought the CD32 came out in the early 90's ? It's funny you mention the whole second glance thing, as I still find myself digging out the emulators to play some C64 stuff here & there.. I know the C64 DTV I got for xmas has gotten some pretty decent use since then!

Oh - BASS was brilliant *period* :D

no it must have been in the 80's..reason being I had the cd32 when I used to live at Jindalee in my first home, I built my current house in '91 and never had the Amigacd32 here at all. I recall it being at least a few year prior to 1990 as we stayed with the inlaws while this place was being built. NO WAIT....you are right!!..yes it was early to mid 90's..I remeber now it was in this house...s*** my memory is getting worse. Im an old git and forget s***...what was I talkin about again??

:P

just d/load the BASS file (67 meg) for those interested.
