Award-winning animation director Genndy Tartakovsky, who created the hit series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Samurai Jack and Dexter’s Laboratory, will direct Power of the Dark Crystal, the much anticipated sequel to The Jim Henson Company’s 1982 classic fantasy film. The announcement was made today by Lisa Henson, co-CEO of The Jim Henson Company and a producer on the film.

...

Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, Power of the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.

f***ing sweet, can't wait for this one, I used to love the original when I was a kid, even if they use CGI in this one, if they keep the tone and art direction of the first one it should own

Personally I think the puppetry made the dark crystal. Seeing it in CGI would just freak me out

The Dark Crystal, The Neverending Story and Flash Gordon are must see movies from the 80's. The soundtracks to all these movies are f***ing awesome too!

Labyrinth kicked arse, and it had David Bowie as the villain.

On the downside David Bowie's crotch bulge featured prominently. Man... Felt like averting my eyes sometimes.

Also "The Princess Bride" belongs on the list of eighties movies.

Vizzini: HE DIDN'T FALL? INCONCEIVABLE.
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Inigo Montoya: You are wonderful.
Man in Black: Thank you; I've worked hard to become so.
Inigo Montoya: I admit it, you are better than I am.
Man in Black: Then why are you smiling?
Inigo Montoya: Because I know something you don't know.
Man in Black: And what is that?
Inigo Montoya: I... am not left-handed.
[Moves his sword to his right hand and gains an advantage]
Man in Black: You are amazing.
Inigo Montoya: I ought to be, after 20 years.
Man in Black: Oh, there's something I ought to tell you.
Inigo Montoya: Tell me.
Man in Black: I'm not left-handed either.
[Moves his sword to his right hand and regains his advantage]

I tried watching The Goonies again last year but I couldn't get into it. There was way too much girly screaming being done by the boys in it for my liking. That little asian kid was prolly the worst followed by chunks.

Reverend Evil you're quite mad. Data, (the asian kid) was the best one. Pinchers of Peril!

Hehe

If John were here, he'd laugh too! Dude! He was just as whiny in Goonies as he was in The Temple Of Doom.
