Shameless plug that I went Scuba Diving for the first time.

Admittedly it was only at underwaterworld in their shark tank with pansy Grey Nurses [which we weren't allowed to touch :(..), but I thoroughly enjoyed the scuba diving aspect and I'm considering getting my open diving licence and would like to do dives out to the HMS Brisbane, Great White Cage Diving, Reef Dives etc. (Not sure if I'm game enough with those beasts to do a free-dive :)...)

Not sure if anybody here has been and thoroughly enjoyed it and proceeded to get their open licence, if you have and go scuba diving at least semi-frequently, and wouldn't mind sending me a PM, I have a few non-urgent/important questions I would like to ask!

A few pics from under there ::

:: My effort at a photoshop of me with a slightly more exciting great white in a more ocean setting::

Pics may be used to turn this into a photoshop thread about/in any circumstances. (yea, I can handle the gay inuendo ones :P )

Great sport to get into dude... I've been doing it for 4 years now but it can get f***ing expensive. Also, f*** diving off the Great Barrier Reef. Once you do one reef dive they are all the same. Wreck dives is where the fun is at.

That's what i'm interested in doing (and some more threatening shark dives - such as great whites), think it would be awesome fun.

Sending you a PM with just a few little q's if that's alright.

After having watched Open Water just the other night, I've been completely turned off the idea of Scuba Diving, at least out in the ocean anyway :)

Those dudes who go diving under huge ice shelves in antarctica are crazy! There's like 10m rays swimming around, not to mention a f*** load of ice above you and no where to go. It'd be so eerie under there I'd prolly ass myself and attract some form of giant/ultra squid :(

I've always wanted to go diving but have never gotten around to it... hopefully going to Fiji in june/july and planning on doing it then though!

I have about 38 logged dives now ^^ I have my Advanced Open Water Licence.

A lot of them are from Reef Encounter (A Dive ship off Cains) that i've been a guest on once and a Hostie twice.
The rest are various places around here (Tweed, Tangalooma and the like)

As Snakeman said Reef dives do tend to look the same after a few. The first few times are AWSOME though. Pretty interisting when you know which things you can touch without dieing too ^^ Coral reacts in some pretty cool ways to the touch of the hand :)
Wreaks are pretty spectacular to see. I want to dive down to the big ship they recently sunk.

I don't have the spare cash to get my own BC/Reg and full setup but I go with a friend of the family or hire gear when I get the chance.

My Sister is in the QUT Scuba club and they seem pretty good, and very cheap for the gear they let you have...
I'm concidering joing them this year.

Scuba diving is one thing I'm not sposed to or even allowed to do at all... :( *shakes fist at pneumothorax*

Not something I was ever burning to do but hey I'd still like to give it a shot if I could, seems pretty cool.

Has anybody hear done any interesting tech diving? I'm looking at getting an enriched gas ticket (for using Nitrox etc) and would like to know if anyone here has done it and thought it worthwhile...

Another advanced openwater diver checking in. Awesome hobby, it's just a shame the gear is so expensive. oh well.

Pic from my last dive at flinders reef. See if you can spot the massive Wobbegong shark that nearly caused me to crap my wetsuit when i swam past it a moment after taking this photo and it took off at top speed after a fish.

Sent you a re-add request on MSN Lucas, had to change emails recently.

It sounds like going the way scooter suggested (just always hiring the gear) is the best way to go, except maybe buying your own wetsuit.
