Warning found here
Warning to all Cablevision Broadband users...I found out tonight that they had throttled my broadband connection for sending too much data upstream! ~[blah blah blah]~ I only found out by running speed tests.

They shut me down to 4mbps downstream from 13mbps and killed my upstream to 140kbps from 2mbps!
Thats what happens when you give cable companies monopolies!
the monopoly comment made me laugh, sounds familiar. crazy tho even their capped speed is way faster than most of australias broadband, except for those lucky enough to be on adsl2 which only came onboard a few months ago or cable but their upload kicks cables arse.

Common knowledge that rest/most of the world is better off but still abit of a shock to see one of them complaining about that speed since its still plenty fast.

upload on cable tv on foxtel digital is done on a dialup modem - I dont think we produce much upstream traffic on our cable tv network

The Telcomunication comapnies there can afford to do so. With some of the larger cities holding more than 20 million people it isn't that hard to understand why.

It's about population density, there are heaps of americans who can't get better than 28.8 dialup.
