As you guys may or may not remember - i've been trying to sell my bike since early january. For some reason I can't seem to get rid of the f***ing thing - not for lack of interested punters though.

First week i had it listed for $6100 in the trading post. Day the ad comes out someone offers me 6k for it and arranges to pick it up tomorrow @ 5. 5:30 comes and i'm still no richer. So i call him up "ohh sorry man the guy didn't come to pick up my ute." - he was selling his ute to finance the bike. *sigh*

A week or so later with many ppl arranging times to come and visit but not even having the courtesy to turn up I get another call from some dude in mackay he saw it on the net (pictures) and is willing to buy it sight unseen and pay a transport company to ship it up to him. One problem of course - he has to find out how much shipping will cost and he may not be able to afford it. Fast forward a week of being stuffed around and surprise surprise he doesn't have the money even after I offered to go down to the bare minimum i was willing to take - $5500.

So its now been well over a month and i've shelled out quite a bit in the trading post. I took your guys advice and listed it in bikesales.com.au but haven't had anything from them.

Now i'm at a cross roads as to what to do. The trading post ad has just run out and i can either relist it or take it to the bike shop and pay them to sell it. Its not like the bike is a piece of s*** or anything - its got what i consider to be a way better paint job then most yzf600's out there and its in good nick.

The people at the shop seem to think they can get $6k for it but after their 10% fee i'm only looking at getting $5,400 anyways and that includes the effort of getting it all the way there (i'm in labrador and they're in slacks creek - all bikes for those in the know).

So obviously I'd prefer a private sale. Now this post was primarily a rant but I guess i'm still holding hope that with all you riders out there you'll know someone who is looking for a new bike or have suggestions on where to go from here.

The bike in question is a yzf600 1995 with 53,000 k's on the clock.

*sorry for the shameless plug but not really sure what else to do atm*

Just hang in there and wait it out.

I've been tryin to sell my GTR for over 6 months and have heard everything under the sun when it comes to people showing some real money. You will find talks cheap, dont take anyone as serious until youve got a cheque in your hand.

Everyone is "serious" and "has cash" and wants to go for a drive, but when it comes to laying down as little as $20 for a deposit "ohhh nahhh... mmmm, ive still got other cars to look at"

All you need is one serious buyer, which could call tomorrow or in another 3 months, just be patient.

I guess im lucky in a way that im not urgent to sell mine, so I dont care if it doesnt sell for another 6 months yet

imo: big deal. this sort of mucking around happens every time one tries to sell a used car or whatever. why would it be any different for bikes? if u really wanna move it drop 1000 bux off the price, most would do the same if selling a similarly priced car.
10% commision is nothing

nat is right

if you were willing to sell it for $5500, then why not $5400 and incur the cost of a cab ride from one place to the other (or get someone to pick you up)

YZF is why :P

R1 Maybe :D

GSXR grrrr!!

Or ducati!

A bike is a bike, they all fkn fly and all own cars.

Looks nice, if I had 6k i'd go for it mate :)

Try going into some bike shops and ask them for advice.

A mate of mine recently just sold is M5 Augusta, which he was having troubles selling, he took it into a bike shop, he sold it for something ridiculous and they asked for a couple of hundred.

if you're desperate :)

I think your asking a tad much. I bought a 2000 Model ZX6R in immaculate condition with 30,000kms on the clock for 7900, sold it for 7500.

Yours is 5 years older, and has almost double the kms.

Bikes are dangerous mmmkay! Or are the riders the ones who are dangerous?

Suppose it's just like a gun. A gun by it's self isn't dangerous. Put it in the hands of some physco and well yeah...!

:) Still i wouldn't ride one. I'd kill myself!
