I mistakenly thought Microsoft did something useful for a change. How wrong I was. Microsoft makes an ISO available that has all of the security and critical updates to date, for Windows XP, 2000 and 2003 (32 and 64-bit versions). I'd imagine it would be useful if one wants to update the system offline, or to slipstream the most up-to-date copy of the OS. Anyway, here it is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913086 |

All updates to date? I think that is a bit too good to be true.

Why too good to be true?
You know that many patches just over-write and update the same, finite number of Windows system files? |

I say too good to be true because it would make my life a lot easier and I’m sure a lot of others and if there were a single file you could download with all the updates to a certain date then it would be very likely that I would know about it.
When you install XP even with sp2 and you do a windows update you could have anywhere up to 40 security updates depending on what release you installed. The link you pointed to have the updates released on the January 10th, 2006 only which is two. It does not have any previous ones. Maybe there is another section where you could download all the updates to a certain date but I had a look and couldn't find it. |
