They had something like this at a technology park sort of thing. Except they had scary sounds like freaky little laughs and things running about putting paper bags over your head and clicking scissors etc. Plus it was in the dark.

Didn't really sound like surround to me, and yes, I did use headphones. Two pairs in fact. Maybe my ears just aren't as gullible.

Pretty nifty, although this kind of thing has been around for a fair while. There are processors like this one http://news.harmony-central.com/Newp/2001/BRS-Processor.html which take surround inputs and, using some clever algorithms, reproduce it over headphones. From memory the basic concept is that you only have two ears, so if the sound is reproduced correctly you can make it appear to come from anywhere from two sources close to the ears. I'm suprised game developers have not jumped on this kind of technology, no doubt it would be extermemely effective as many gamers use headphones.

I had Aureal Vortex 2 back in the day and yes it was the s***.

Unfortunetly creative are f*****s and when they bought Aureal out they locked cool s*** like this up in the vault of awesomeness.

So all this amazing Audigy 2 s*** and we still only have povo surround sound.

another one for those that are interested, it came pre-loaded on an mp3 player i bought several months ago (right click, save as)
