So tonight I come home from Christmas Dinner - we'd had a blackout. My 6 year old Altec Lansing speakers evidently have blown, and thus, I need a new set.
I really don't want to spend more than $100 on speakers. I just want 2x good speakers and a sub, I want it to listen to music (I don't need 5.1 for games or any s*** like that, just a good sounding, loud set of speakers). If I were wanting to buy new headphones, I would buy from www.headphones.com.au - You can buy MUCH better quality stuff there at a fraction of the price that WoW / Harvey Norman would charge - is there anything remotely similar in the way of purchasing speakers? I just want the best bang for my buck. Anyone have any suggestions at all? I can stretch that $100 budget a little, but I'd like it as close as possible. Cheers |

don't even worry about getting 'decent' speakers for $100, your better off spending it on good headphones.

Yeah, I have headphones - I don't need headphones, I need speakers.
I've seen logitech 5.1 speakers in EB for like $75 - that's the s*** I want. I'll happily spend a bit over $100 if it's a significant increase in quality. I don't need something that'll bring the house down, I just like to listen to reasonble volume music while browsing the net etc. |

I remember EB having a $50 off deal on speakers.
140 Watt if i remember correctly , $150 down to $100. Pretty much at most EB stores, i saw them at Toombul on the northside and Indooroopily on the south/west. This is EB though so its probably not the most ideal place to get them |

You wont get good speakers for $100 so you might as well give me the cash and I'll kick you in the nuts and we'll call it a day. But if it's just something to get you by until you get better ones then go for it.

DSE Stereo Amplifier and DSE bookshelf speakers.
OCAU Audiophiles love them, and they are pretty cheap, tho still not $100, but you will probably be alot more happier with them. checkout ocau forums, there is plenty of talk about them there, and DSE/powerhouse often have them on special especialy around this time of year. |
