i have a question to ask those enthusiasts of you out there, simply cause i cant find any reviews/articles cause my google skills arent obviously l33t enough.

anyone know the difference between these cards? is there a comparative difference between the two thats measurable in games like fear, fable, cs:source?

hypothetically u have a 6800gt currently. you have the option, for another 200 dollars, get a 7800gt. would you do it? (as in trade the 6800gt for a 7800gt for 200 bucks)

cheers :) links to any reviews would be nice as well

I went from a vanilla 6800 to a 7800gtx (using dual core 3800 athlon 64) and I'm glad I didnt have to pay for the card as I I play mainly source based games and civ 4 and dont really notice the difference. It reaches high fps at places, but still see drops in frames alot. Maybe fps in source is tied to your net connection when playing online :/

I wouldn't drop another 200 bucks to go to the 7800GT. If you didn't already have a 6800 though the 7800GT is about the best value high-end card you can buy.

borrowing whitewolfs article, this page pretty much sums it all up. apparently your looking at a 39% performance increase, so it may well be worth doing.

My brother recently upgraded from a 6800 to a 7800GT. Before, he couldn't play Black and White, and complained about the speed Civ4 and BF2 ran at. Now, B&W runs nicely.

^^ no it dosent, and theres only couple of cards in AU atm, couple of peps on ocau have them they pull about 9K in penis mark 05, overclock well still tho the gtx is lot faster then the x1800, 24 pipes vr 16... Nividia ftw this time.

Personally waiting for the G80 / R580 cores now they will be next gen also DX 10 + Shader model 4. 8-)

Well in the Atomic mag I have sitting next to me, the X1800 beats the 7800GTX in all respects.

someone listed the 512 7800gtx vs x1800 on various sites. The amount of trouble to get hold of a x1800 makes its pretty academic to debate over anyway.

correct me if I am wrong but doesnt the 7800 line up of cards support slightly better tech than the 6800's?..ie.e transparency AA and the Gamma AA modes ect..

I absolutley love my 2 7800GTX's in sli..they rock. I rock and my e-penis rocks.

i have an asus 7800gtx ... runs all current games sufficiently, i can up quake 4 graphics to make it jerk, especially in mulitplayer, however, that's more likely the fact i only have an amd 64 3500 venice core than the card

not a bad way to spend $800 anyway, especially considering i only play quake 3

*shakes head*
