Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth's biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense. First though: hahahahaha Second: Wait, what Third: Is that serious ? If it is serious well whatever, but I still find that funny. |

Odd.
That said, its something many people I know unconsciously advocate. How many times have you heard singles say "I don't plan to have any kids. Why would I want to bring a child into this awful world?" |

Another one,
"Please remove yourself from the gene pool, people like you should stop breeding." Unfortunately, I don't think those people would go voluntarily. |

I agree with the movement to a certain point but moreso to a sustainable population level not to complete extinction.
Unfortunately the only thing that is going to keep the population of earth at a sustainable level is war, famine, pestilence and death as none of the breeders among us want to go without their 3-8 children. Bring on the four horsemen I say. *Edit for Rolo http://www.vhemt.org/colorvisualize.jpg last edited by Xy at 13:16:46 27/Oct/05 |

I heard the homosexual population in young men is exploding (pun intended) in China because of their one-child policy. Apparently you can go into a nightclub with 2000 people in it, and only about 100 of them are women. The guys are giving up and going all sucky-sucky.
Women can be surrounded by up to 100 minders for safety. |

Persay, whereever you are, you should really consider giving this some serious thought. It is for the good of humanity that you do not reproduce.

as we become less dense. They should introduce this in America. If we can stop the Yanks from breeding, the world will become a lot less dense really quickly... |

These people don't understand evolution. By voluntarily not breeding, they'll strip the people who don't breed out of the gene pool... and allow people who do breed to stay in it. This will cause future generations to have a much lower percentage of people who won't breed.
What they need to do is to breed as much as possible so that their "don't breed" gene gets deep into the gene pool, thereby taking over the human race. Then all they need to do is set a date -- say a thousand years from now -- and hopefully by that time the don't breed gene will be in everyone and _then_ they'll win when future generations say "ok, everybody stop breeding... NOW!" Poolfroof. |

Larry Niven had the right idea in his 'known space' sci-fi books... a birth lottery! Everyone is banned from having children & you have to win the right to breed in a lottery! Thus over time people will be bred for luck & eventually everyone will be incredibly lucky! ;D

I for one am supporting the movement by not breeding.

i think it was something along the lines of everyone is sterilised at puberty & if you won the right to breed in the lottery the government would temporarily reverse the sterilisation for the winner to breed. so no accidental pregnancies! sex is safer than ever! ;] "RingWorld' is one of the best books in this series... where aliens come & hire humans from a particular family that always wins the breeding lottery because they are just so damn lucky! :P
in reality though... i think only things like thousands of megatons of neutron bomb payload or a massive asteroid or such is gonna do the job. |

^^ That ain't really a bad idea so long as puritans an moralists don't get the power to say who can have children.

There's an episode from Sliders Season 2... where they land on a world that is apparently perfect... because of population control.
Very interesting. |

They used the lottery concept too didn't they? Something along the lines of getting paid to buy a lottery ticket and then if you happen to win you get whatever you want for 24 hours before they kill you. |
