Hi :D
I owed a friend $500, since i couldn't be f***ed withdrawing that much cash i decided to send it to him over internet banking (we both have St. George). I sent the direct deposit payment Sunday Night, we thought something was up today when he still hadn't recieved it yet, and it turns out when i entered his details wrong. The Name and Acc number was correct, except the BSB had 1 wrong digit. Is there any chance of getting the money back? How should i go about getting it back? |

Call your bank and explain what happened with all the available details and if you do it let them know you have a printed out receipt for the transaction.
It would be even better to go in and explain your situation face to face if you have all the documentation as they should be able to easily clear up the problem. As for where your money has gone atm who knows? it's probably sitting in limbo in the bank atm *(at the moment) so best of luck getting it back. *Thought i better clear that up cause I doubt it's in the ATM ;P last edited by Xy at 18:57:25 26/Oct/05 |

i'd call your bank, duh
if the account doesn't exist, the bank should return your money (maybe they will keep a fee tho) if you are unlucky and the account info you entered exists, tough titties, you just gave someone else $500 |

I dont think it will have sent to another person, as i entered the account number perfectly correct, and something must be f***ed if 2 people can have the same acc number. |

I did the same thing not too long ago, except I had the BSB right but the account number wrong (I'd put a 0 in front and wasn't able to enter in the last digit because of the number limit in the form field). I waited 5 days for it to bounce back like it should when no such account exists but it didn't, so I went into my bank and told them the story and they ended up doing a traceback and I got the money back, but the traceback cost a $20 fee (doesn't everything these days?) But hey, $20 is better than losing the whole lot.

Wow i can't believe this, i rang up and he's like it says it's already bounced back... and i was like wtf as i had checked my account.
Anyway when i had checked my account today, my balance had gone up about 500, but i thought that was due to a paypal payment i was recieving, but it turns out it's the paypal one that hasnt came yet. DOH |
