http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&bid=2&id2=38
I need a case and 400W power supply and I don't know if some of those cases listed on that site include a power supply when they say "Deluxe 400W ATX Midi tower case(M-4616) Black Prescott ready", for example. I want to spend as little as possible without getting something crap (is less than $100 possible for power and case?). I don't want it to look like a spaceship. Only needs to fit 2 HDD's and 2 CD/DVD drives plus the usual crap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Generally "case+PSU" PSUs are dodgy. If you want to have a reliable and safe computer then I suggest you go buy a separate name brand PSU like enermax, antec, thermaltake, zalman, etc. However if it's just a computer to you and you don't give a flying tortoise, then go ahead and grab one of those <$100 cases from umart or if you have computer fairs up there, grab one from there. It'll do the job, but if you start having random crashes or if you want to add more s*** to it, you might want to look at upgrading the PSU.

Personally, I don't believe you can get a reasonable case + psu for a modern system for less than $100.
But if that's your budget, I'd be looking at this: Antec SLK1650 Solution Series ATX MiniTower Case 350W Black I bet the Antec 350W supply will actually be markedly more powerful than the heap of dung "400W" in the generic case. PS. The case will be much better too... last edited by orbitor at 11:49:25 26/Oct/05 |

for that budget id say go the antec Super Lan Boy they are about $130 tho, very quiet cases they dont sound like a vacuum cleaner/jet engine. :)
Edit: you could allways go something cheapish like This. last edited by 0z at 15:26:54 26/Oct/05 |

Crazy people paying crazy ammounts for a brand name imo.
Just buy something with a halfway decent name, from somewhere that will be around to honour the warranty. Unless you are planning on a full set of leds for your pc then you might need the cromeplated PSU that comes in a box fit to contain panties for a girlfriend. |

I bought an aopen (which some would consider generic) h700b case, which came with a 300W aopen psu. I'm currently running 7 hdd's off it and a 6600gt (+ mobo etc), so far with no troubles. I know it's not the best thing to do but it works well and I've yet to have random problems/failures. When I get some more dosh together I'll be purchasing a new psu, it'll most likely be something generic that will provide a decent amount of current down the rails.
