It gets scary when you think your dealing with an indian but they turn out to be an australian who has all your details on their database and reads them back to you.

I tried to convince her that i dont have a home phone for her to call me on and she was infact calling me on a camel that i was married to and i was hearing through the camels ear (who was located in tasmania).

It got scary when she started reading out my home adress - Im going to be locking my doors from now on and only speaking to indian telemarketers, this aussie one was f***ing cluey and not as stupid as the indians :(

Most of the telemarketers you think are overseas call centres are in fact right here in Australia. I know quite a few telemarketer managers who look after big call centres and quite a lot of their employees are immigrants who grabbed the work.

well the fact she said "GEDDAY MATE" made me think it was indian with a good accent, but as time wore on it turned out that she had a really bogan aussie accent - indians always have a destinctive accent and this chick was not an indian but an aussie, and a bogan, and now im scared

With telemaketers I'm either:

1) If I was unlucky enough to pick up the phone (I usually don't pick up anything that said overseas) then I'd politely tell them "sorry but I'm not interested thanks" then hang up. But if they're insisting I'd just repeat what I said then hang up.

2) I just let my winfax pick up the call. Seems to filter them out eventually i.e. they'd jotted it down as fax number. If I get the spam fax, I don't care as I can just delete them, and I won't waste any paper :)

It's funny when you pranked them I guess but it gets old and you're still be on the phone with them for ages - which I loath.

it seems that they are reverting back to aussie telemarketers which is bad for 2 reasons

1) you cant identify them as an international number
2) i dont feel good about f***ing with aussies. I only f*** with the indians because they are annoying and take aussie jobs away. When i have got an aussie im nice to them (apart from this time when i dont know wtf is going on)

I'm actually surprised you didn't pick up that she was aussie alot earlier as she has a very sydney type greek english accent that came across in the first sentence you can hear in that recording.

Usually I just say, "Sure, just one sec, I have to get something off the stove" put the phone down an walk away for 20 minutes

As funny as i found it Lowgoz, i cant help but imagine that about a minute into the convo, she has flicked some switches that is allowing everybody at telstra/optus/ or who ever camel phone is with, to listen in (say, like speakerphone) resulting in the entire staff or a major corporation laughing at you, while browsing your "personal" details ...
