How do you turn off the clock thingy in the top left corner when watching avi files? Every time I watch something thru it there's a huge timer going off and I can't see anywhere in the options to turn it off. It's like a time code for a preview tape.
Go team! |

Man, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about :)
I've got VLC under win32 and linux .. none of them have a timer on the top-left. Switch to a different torrent site? :P |

It plays stuff despite your codecs being f***ed up.

It plays stuff despite your codecs being f***ed up I think it's because it installs half a billion codecs for itself during installation, which is not a bad thing. |

I prefer mediaplayer classic, but I think even it needs codecs for some things. MPC + FFDShow = win.

sometimes i find vlc can keep sound synced better on certain movies, also can crank up the audio in the audio preferences.

Settings > Preferences > Video > Subtitles/OSD > Deselect Time display sub filter Everything after "video" doesn't exist in the version I'm using, like those options aren't there. I should prolly check to see if there's a newer version available. |

Is there a [+] symbol next to/below video in the menu, click that to expand it.
You will also need to tick the advanced options box after you go into subtitles/osd last edited by General_Specific at 22:12:43 20/Oct/05 |

Found it in the modules section. Just had to blank out the time thingy in the top right corner to stop the clock thingy.

This is version 0.8.1.
Dunno why it suddenly decided to start showing the timer but it's all fixed now. Also, I find VLC to play stuff nice and smothly while certain stuff will play jerkily on windows media player. Thanks for the help anyway dude. 8-) |

vlc is okay, but i f***ing hate the time slider, theres like 5 positions it snaps to for every video and for long videos its annoying to search through.
media player classic ftw. |

using v0.8.2. it still sux. it works if i grab the slider and move it along a bit, but can't i just click in the spot i want to go to?
meh, i dont really mind, as I use MPC for videos as it does everything and outputs ac3 through my spdif just like powerdvd or vlc. |

I agree with Rev. I play stuff in Media Player Classic (eg: the new ATI demo movies that are massive) and they jerk like mad. In VLC they play smoooooooth.
