A SWEDISH man who donated his sperm to a lesbian couple must pay child support for the three children he fathered, Sweden's Supreme Court has ruled.

The man, now 39, donated his sperm to the couple in the early 1990s.
Three sons were born between 1992 and 1996 and the couple has since separated.

The man told the court that he and the women had agreed that he would play no role in the boys' child rearing and that the two women would be their parents. – AFP

sounds too suspect to be true. papers don't always have it correct. can we verify the validity of this?

i doubt it, by the way the artical is worded, he isn't being protected by the sperm donors laws. sounds like they just got him to f*** them.

Your lucky your kids have one Kat. not everyone does. And child support is a scam rediculously in favor of women. on this issue tho, it should be common sense and law that donors male & female be exempt from any and all legal requirements to do with the resulting kids. You don't donate because you want to be a parent, you donate to help others who can't naturally.

I remember seeing that on an episode of seinfeld or something. They had sex, he wore a jimmy hat, she fished it out of the bin afterwards, froze it, et voila. May not have been seinfeld but yeah, tv show of some kind.

while i agree that on the face this is a stupid ruling you have to understand the reasoning of the court. It is a well establish family court principle that two parents can't agree to something that is to the detriment of the child. So basically a father can't be excluded from the responsibility of child support by the mother. For the obvious reason that someone has to watch out for the childrens rights.

What he should have done is made a seperate agreement with the mother that stipulates that the mother is responsible for any child support payments the father is forced to pay.
