A Brentwood housewife and her DA husband. A persian store owner. Two police detectives who are also lovers. An African-American television director and his wife. A Mexican locksmith. Two car-jackers. A rookie cop. A middle-aged Korean couple... They all live in Los Angeles. And during the next 36 hours, they will all collide...

Challenging and thought provoking, CRASH takes a provocatve, unflinching look at the complexities of racial tolerance in contemporary America. This compelling urban drama tracks the volatile intersections of a multi-ethnic cast of characters struggles to overcome their fears as they careen in and out of one another's lives. CRASH boldly reminds us of the importance of tolerance as it ventures beyond colour lines and uncovers the truth of our shared humanity.

What an awesome, awesome movie. Best way I can describe this is if you've watched Magnolia then you'll have an idea how the film has been made. All the stories were great to watch and the acting was excellent and I'm no expert when it comes to knowing racial groups in the US but you could understand what the story was trying to say no matter how true or false this movie is.

So if you're after something a bit more heavier than Miss Congeniality 2 or The Wedding Date, then this movie is for you.

8-)

Seconded on the awesomeness of this movie. I saw it at the cinemas and came out damn impressed. Definately worth the rental if anything.

While we're on the subject of rentals - check out "Dead and Breakfast". It's awesome for an entirely different reason (it's got zombies and country music).

Yeah I loved this movie. And I thought it replicated the feel of Magnolia exactly. I had to pause the movie and look it up on IMDB to see if it was by Paul Thomas Anderson as well, that's how similar it felt.

Yep it's quite good, I enjoyed it. The Machinist is also quite good, kinda like Memento/Fight Club - it's got Chistian Bale in it can't be bad right? :)

Machinest was very good. The story came together neatly in the end. But it doesn't have much explosions, ninjas, dragons, martial arts, assassins or fairies. (Last one included for Khel)

I think I can honestly say that Crash is the best movie ive seen this year (yes ive seen serenity - loved it as well).

Went to see Crash in Glasgow while I was in Europe and loved every minute of it. I really enjoy the interconnecting story line way of telling a movie and the acting is superb.

Must see

Holly-crapolly. That was the best movie i've seen in a very long time.

Slow paced at first, and long, but worth it.

i liked the 1996 release of Crash:
Since a road accident left him with serious facial and bodily scarring, a former 'TV scientist' has become obsessed by the marriage of motor car technology with what he sees as the `raw sexuality' of car-crash victims. The scientist, along with a crash victim he has recently befriended, sets about performing a series of sexual acts in a variety of motor vehicles, either with other crash victims or with prostitutes who they contort into the shape of trapped-corpses. Ultimately, the scientist craves a suicidal union of blood, semen and engine coolant, a union with which he becomes dangerously obsessed.

I will be the lone voice of dissent!

I didn't like this movie much; I thought it was too heavy handed on the racial themes; I felt like I'd been bludgeoned oer the head with a "RACISM IS A SERIOUS SOCIAL PROBLEM" poster. Some of the stories were cool but it was just too disjointed for me to really get interested in any of the characters.
