Hi I have a Lexmark X61170 printer

It printed ok for a while then it sttarted gettingg dodgy. I changed cartrridges and it still doesn' print well.

It sorta prinnts a bit then ffades out then printns a bit again almost like the ink is too thick

I don't just wanna bbuy another cartridge becausue carttriidgees are more than the prrinter

also my keyboard and mouse are f***eed but that's ' anoothter story

I just replaced the toner cartridge in my printer. $98, and that's not even genuine.

got any options in there to clean the print heads? try that. Does it do exactly the same for every page even ones printed straight one after the other? If so that's really odd. Try it on another computer.

the head is on the cartridge in lexmarks case, so its got a new one.
in either case pull it out boil the jug and hold the head/cart above the steam to clean it out.

not much u can do other than pull the cart out and reseat it

Lexmark are s*** printers, canon or other are ftw.

I just bought a Canon iP4000 this week and it rocks very hard. Prints out text nice and clear and crisp and printing onto cd's is extremely easy and gives an awesome picture and it prints out full colour pages in less than a minute. $219 from CA's so if you're after something cheap and works great than this printer is for you. Also has a USB plug type thingy in the front to hook up digital cameras as well.

yeh, I agree with rev... We're selling them at work for $199 (but you have to get a $20 usb cable anyway if you dont have one) ps: officeworks.

Are they reliable? I'm a bit suss on those photo quality printers. Am thinking of just getting a cheap reliable black and white printer. I can live with going to the print shop to get photos done, but having cheap handy document prints would be nice. Is running a ip4000 expensive, black ink wise?

Black ink for text = BCI3eBK about the cheapest black ink tank you can get, but you do have to maintain the colours even if you dont use them...

they're about $23 and are 27mL... They are rated to something like 800 pages @ 5% ink coverage.
