Is that on this weekend?

Confused, just interested. Heard some people talkin' about it in the city. I thought there would be talk of it on here.

Riverfire 2005

Turn your eyes to the skies over Brisbane for Riverfire, a sizzling spectacular of fireworks and music. The atmosphere from the crowd is friendly as everyone waits in anticipation for what they know will be a great show. So grab your place beside the river and look up!

Riverfire opens the 2005 Riverfestival fun. Riverfire keeps getting better and this year will be unforgettable with a breathtaking 30 minutes of choreographed fireworks simulcast with Triple M and Channel Nine. Channel Nine’s special broadcast starts from 6.30pm. After the fireworks, wait for the festival favourite - the RAAF F1-11 strike jet sweeping low over the city and South Bank, performing an amazing dump and burn display.

One time i went to riverfire and thanks to elite contacts i have we were able to watch the fireworks from on top of the bcc building.

The f111 was about 10 metres above our heads when it went over (but over the river).

Same. Top of Buranda shops for the win (across from princess alexander). Some were on top of the PA's car park which is like 6-7 stories higher. We happened to be in the lower car park on the river side couldnt hear the jets just heard the people screaming on top car park then the first went straight over ours heads and the second not too long after just off to the left.

THE F-111 flyover at Saturday's Brisbane Riverfire has been cancelled because of a dispute between Defence Insurance and Major Brisbane Festivals over public liability insurance cover.

No F111's means I'm completely uninterested :(

I was on a friend's rooftop right on the river last time and I swear I could feel the heat from the afterburners as those f***ing things flew right past us. It was so awesome, I'd love to see it again and get some phat HD video of it, but if they don't have it I cbf dealing with the slaw of the traffic and all that.

Did anyone go to the amberly air base when they did the big air show? They only have one like every 10 years, was really excellent, they did the dump and burn with about 4 f1-11's, was excellent, they had heaps of jets there, and i sat in the cockpit of an f-18 hornet, woot.

Dump and burn at the riverfire is cool too, but i'm kinda getting over it =( last time i went there the jets busted my mums eardrum =/

Yay!

Now the F1-11'a will be present to strafe the crowds Team America style after the terrorist attack

- or -

Now the F1-11's are going to be covertly hijacked and used to bomb Sth Bank with weapons of fat ass destruction an kill all the hippies!

this way I'm offering 2 alternative scenario's in case RiverFire is s***e so that you all have something to look forward to

Yeap its true. F1-11's are on! Great news huh... without the jets, I guess we would just have to call the event 'River'.

I love the fact of being able to listen to the pilots on TripleM and count them in. Its great!

Also if anyone wants a good night after RiverFire, head down to the Clarence Corner Hotel (opposite BadGirls at the Mater - How convienent) Mates of mine from work are playing down there. They play covers, so if you are interested check out their song list @ http://www.geocities.com/lunarjoose
9:45pm start. Here if your interested - http://qgl.ausforums.com/?agn=thread&id=2347603

I'm obsessed with a lot of things, it's only the focus that changes irregularly

i really hate to break it to you but its all pre recorded and timed down to the second.

The RAAF uses encrypted communication on all its avaiation frequencies and the pilots have enough to think about without saying some bulls*** script while they are making split second decisions.

One of my mates flys out of amberley and was on tower frequency requesting permission to take off when one of the f1-11's that operate out of there called the tower to check in, the tower told him (the f111 pilot) that he was public and to "scramble your fewquency please" and after that my mate heard nothing.
