Doesnt anyone find it sad that a middle aged man with a family can go missing under mysterious circumstances -and be missing for 2 months - and its only when they are linked to a long term relationship with Olivia Newton John that the media will give it a second glance and the general public pretends to care?

Stop watching T.V. and go down to the copshop and take a look at the missing person board? People are free to care as they please, nobody is restricting (apart from themselveS) anyone's ability to care.bear.stare. It's just that people are too lazy, and tend to wait until things are thrust at them to take a stance/opinion. Your point is specifically media related, and has no bearing on anything else.

Point 1 - My source was not the TV.

Point 2 - Yes my point is completely media related.

Point 3 - If one more person at work asks me if Ive heard about poor ONJ and her poor missing boyfriend, Im going to do something nasty with my orange highlighter. They are 'pretending' to care so they are up to date with current out-of-office drama.

Point 4 - Ive had a friend go missing, and has been for almost 2 years now. I know about fighting to get information heard by people who claim to have 'more important' issues to address.

It would just be great for the media to use their pull and control to help real people with real issues. No faith.

Real people with real issues unfortunatley do not make the big networks money via ratings.

The medium itself is not of concern. Do you know the people in question? No, you heard about it somewhere else. Which means it was proferred to you. You don't have to listen, you know. You are actually whinging about your own inability to reject s*** being forced at you.

....................

Oh please.

Thank you sooo much for your perspective on MY intentions, but no.

This was simply an observation of an ongoing issue brought to my attention by a somewhat recent current event.

Also, rejecting what is forced at you is bs. Its the ability to observe, analyze and question what is being presented to you and make an informed and intelligent decision that counts.

Take from it what you will.

Ok, so let me pose this to you, mr free will.
What do you think about the argument my friend had just had with his mother? Do you think it was because they were sleeping together? Oh, you don't know about it, because it wasn't thrust at you one way or another.

You are commenting on things which have zero relevance to your own existence, then whining about it, much like Reverend Evil. It's f***en hilarious.

I am in agreeance with him!!! I just think it's hilarious that his post could have been reworded to support his own personal experience, but *speculative* the response would have not been as good as it was whilst quoting celebrity.

Thats Ms free will to you....

And how can you say it has no relevance to existance?

The media doesnt stop - 24/7.

Youve just backed up my point with your somewhat twisted example - I cant know about something unless its been 'thrust' at me.

Unless you live in rural Australia where Telstra havent organised any line infrastructure, theres no power and you cant get a decent radio signal, chances are your subject to the whims of the media daily.

Apologies that my post was not as direct and clear cut to make things 'easier' but then we wouldnt be here having this insightful conversation now would we?

Hahah, ok, MIZZ.
It technically does not have any relevance to your being. You will wake up tomorrow, whether or not so and so's missing person is found, or the States sends more troops to wherever. It is not imperative to you that this issue be resolved, or discussed, but man, my gradmother sure acts as though the murders on tv are. I am agreeing with you still, but am I am being semantic, sorry, I'm sick of trying to learn this programming s***, it's above me, and I'm apathetic.

No,but then i dont listen to her style of music....unless she's done a duet with Ozzy Osbourne,Ice Cube or Rammstein I cant say she's done anything i know, but that doesnt make her a B grade Celeb.

What does it make her then?

I dont listen to Beyonce Knowles, but I know who she is and what she does.

I dont listen to Ozzy Osbourne, but I know who he is and what he does.

These are people I would consider current A grade celebs. Maybe its going to be an interpretation debate now.

I too would like to see a channel dedicated entirely to missing persons, murder watch, paedophile watch, rapists, suspected terrorists, refugees, domestic abuse, homelessness, poverty, injustice, bigotry, racism, evil...

Wait I think perhaps 5 channels 24/7 and 5 daily papers should cover that... on a slow day.

I'm sure it would do wonders too. The general public will be so well informed and thus result in less unsolved crimes.

It may be sad but think about this, if not for the nature of the media in Australia, hardly anybody would know or care about Daniel Morcombe. Unfortunately though the case hasn't been solved, at least nearly everyone knows about it. If not for our media's nature, his story would have been lost in a sea of similar tragedies.

Grading celebrities isnt exactly categorizing 'people', theyre celebrities.

Grading or categorization isnt dependent on who they are as people or their personalities - we dont really know them.

Its about their reputation, status and the creative contribution they may - or may not have made.

Thats pretty nasty too Tanaka Khan, almost as nasty as when I say I wish death upon those you care about for saying it.

So your pissed off that people at work talk about it, then you talk about it here.
Hrmm. That makes dosnt make sense.

Unless of the course the subject material is irrelevent and is used to get two people communicating on another level (body language). Thus altering their social stands with people and in turn affecting their 'network' of people for good or bad (generally people try to make it good).
Even on forums alot of the time subject is irrelevent, it is just a medium to flame/praise/agreee/disagree and so on.
Why do you think the same people flame Kat in most of her threads, the subject dosnt matter people will still flame.

SOOOO next time someone talks to you about irrelevent ritual questions, have some fun and f*** with their heads by getting straigt to the point and saying something like, 'because you said something to me with your arms folded across your chests your social standing with me has lowered' or 'because you glanced at my breasts 5 times in the last min you social standing has lowered (or raised if you like it) Bet that'll stop their conversation mid way. :)

edit: of course people dont like when others do that and it will lower your social points for them and eventually they will avoid you. Others may like it but meh.

The other thing I find kind of amusing is how people are compelled to balance the conversation when saying goodbye or hello.

Next time at the servo say seeya to the clerk, then they will usually say bye (bye because they dont care about you and would rather not see you again as that means work) sometimes it is a seeya. Anyway say 'bye' again (or seeya, or whatever) and usually they will say 'bye' or 'seeya' see how many times you can do it before they get the s***s.

Edit: works best with automatic responses :D
