AFAIK, there's no difference i.e. they're the same thing. Notebook is what people call Laptop these days.

I generally refer to a laptop being a 14"-17" laptop computer and a notebook being a 12" laptop.

Most people use them interchangeably... in the olden days of personal computing, yes there was a distinct difference but these days the lines are blurred/non-existent so notebook and laptop generally refer to the same sort of device.

AFAIK, hunter is right.
Strictly speaking, Laptops are obselete and new ones are no longer available, all portable computers on the market these days are notebooks (or tablets or PDAs). I think that notebooks first appeared more or less at the same time as laptops disappeared from the market, so people began referring to their new notebook as a laptop just like they had referred to the laptop it was replacing as a laptop. Now, the words laptop and notebook are interchangeable. |

apparently the bigger companies refer to them as notebooks becuase theres been a few cases where stupid people have burnt their cocks from having a laptop on it for too long
eg. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2002/11/22/man_burns_penis_with_laptop/ |

how the hell? burninated pen0r what? my laptop comes with a warning somewhere, either in the manual or on the case of it that states specifically not to sit the thing on your lap for long because you might get burned. Personally I've never been burned by it but still, it has a warning. That guy probably wanked to his porn he had on the laptop too fast and got friction burn on his tiny cock.

whoop, ever used an Acer notebook? f*** me those things run HOT. We had some recent model Acer in the workshop from a rather large site, anyway it ended up melting and distorting the anti-static rubber coating on the desk... Anyway, sif use a notebook on your lap, its impossible to type properly when you sit with on your lap.

laptops should be fat portable machines with big screens,
notebooks should be slim and small. |
