The new drivers address several game-related issues, including Battlefield 2, Area 51, and GTA: Vice City. Over here. |

"game-related issues"
Does that mean I won't suffer random lockups requiring reboots anymore? Cause that was really pissing me off. |

The random crashes and lockups is something I have fixed.
Made a fixed pagefile, rebooted and defragged the pagefile, did a smart defrag with perfect disk, set my AGP apeture to 128, set vsync to 'on' as well, LOD bias to 'allow' for my 6800 Ultra. Also deleted all the cache files so the game would correctly re-optomise the shaders and she hasn't had a hiccup since. Runs smooth as, with all settings to High and dynamic lighting on medium @1024x768 with 4X ansio and 2X AA. Also disabled VOIP (use ventrilo instead) and have aduio set to high with EAX enabled. |

Yay.
I'm curious though, am I sensible to stick to the CP version, or has the CCC version pulled its socks up and stopped hogging resources? |

stick to CP version..I use ATI drivers for my sons comp and the CCC thing was a resource hog of immense proportions...the old CP version still works damn fine.

Thanks Psycho!. Cheers for the info Oz, wasn't sure whether or not the drivers were worth the install, they didn't say anything in the changelog that interested me, but now I'm convinced.
sc00bs, time to upgrade mate - at least to the new Omegas. |

heh seeing about 20+ fps in bf2 got it set to 1280x1024 (native lcd res) with 4x AA and 6x AF,havent tried it without no AA and AF.
Source fps havent changed much sitting on about 120-150fps 1024x786 no aa/af no shadows, max reflections / textures / models, but it feels hell of a lot smoother online more constant fps.
