Instead of upgrading my pc Im looking to get a laptop and so far am decided on this Dell Inspiron 9300 but being a laptop noob I'm not sure what else is there to pick from other than Dell

requirements are:
best video card there is (im assuming the 6800 go is the best notebook gfx card?)
80-100gb drive
1gb ram etc
system

Yeah seeems like a pretty good deal for $3000 ... i doubt there would be much else better than it, the specials on for another 2 days

yep, cant beat dell's for having good video cards. Best in another brand would probably be an x700 in an acer, or a 6600(not a gt) in a toshiba.

im suprised no ones recommended the ASUS laptops, u can get some awesome 17" and 15.4" wide screens, very nice laptops.

asus's best video seems to be the x700 though :/

I'm sorry but Pretty much every name brand laptop (ie. HP, Compaq, Sony, Toshiba, Dell) is better than an Asus, in build quality, software, warranty, screen, etc...

I've sold all of them, and even though Asus' have a 2 year warranty, the point is, you dont want it to break in the first place.

Yeha I've ordered that inspiron, cant go wrong with that one ... although this XPS 2 that I havent been able to find on the aussie dell website seems much cooler

I got my laptop delivered to me in about 2 working days ordering from tpg

the centrino unit that also throws on a bonus 512mb of ram to take it up to 1gb :-D
