72.5 Million I wonder how many of those are preorder sales? :) Cos the way it sounds, there's only about 72.5 actual PS2s in existance. |

980,000 in the first weekend for the ps2 was in japan... the release in the states was limited to only 500,000 machines. the fact that those 500000 didn't take care of all the preorders though suggests they probably would have gotten around the same anyway.. |

They didn't take care of all the pre-orders, but thats only cause half the stores didn't take pre-orders and sold theres on a first-come-first-served basis. So all the ps2's given to the stores that didn't do pre-orders means less given to the stores that did do pre-orders which means all pre-orders couldn't have been filled. Of course, I could be splitting hairs, but I just wanted to point out, YOU'RE WRONG! :) |

i suspect the stores that didn't do preorders sold out pretty quick anyway. the fact remains they managed to sell some 500000 units pretty much instantly, and then there were still a stash of people who didn't get theirs. my point remains true, they probably could have sold more than they did had they had them available. or am i missing something here? |

I dont think so; I reckon if they'd had another few 100,000, they would have sold em. |

These statistics just show how many idiots are sucked in by the marketing of playstation, which has only one decent game, and that is Metal Gear Solid. The rest of the games on the playstation are substandard, with crappy low res graphics and even worse gameplay. Some of the "games" I've seen in stores for the playstation look more like a botched programming assignment than anything that you would want to buy... or pirate for that matter. |

f*** off. MGS is good, but so is Tenchu. That game hands out s*** like bitches say hey. or something. Same goes for the Crash Bandicoot series, the Tekkens, Tony hawk, the wip3outs and the Final Fantasys. The graphics arent high res, but neither were the graphics for all the old skool classics, and they rocked harder than CS any day. |
