After my last post on CounterStrike, an extremely enterprising CS player, Ulunti, did some research and came up with the following summary on the accusations made in the Summerblue article:
I read the the Summerblue article, and decided to do a bit of testing myself. I used the map targetrange because of the amount of hostages and other entities. Summerblue is indeed accurate in that you can line up hostages and shoot through them with an AWP and only have some die. In fact, every time you do it, one person survives unscathed. I also tested myself the effectiveness of the penetration of strafing and bursting with penetrating and non-penetrating weapons. I stood on one side of all the hostages, lined up my weapon, and burst through them while strafing from one end of the hostages to the other like so:

0 *** ***
| *** ***
| *** ***
0 *** ***

where "0" represents me, "*" is a hostage and "|" is my line of movement.

Interestingly enough, the best weapons at this task (i did not test the para for obvious reasons), for a continous burst using the whole clip, the Steyr-AUG and the Sig-552 performed the best, leaving only 2 hostages alive. The M4 failed miserably, only killing 4 hostages, but causing severe damage to the others.

I also tested Summerblue's analysis of the bodies. I used an MP5 to shoot a single shot at a hostage, and then see how much life was left, depending where I shot. The head shot was an instant kill, arms and legs required multiple shots before the hostage died. The chest was severely damaged, taking the hostages down to 19% on occasion, usually around the mid-30's though. On several instances, the hostage died immediately. However, this could be due to the overlapping areas of the head and chest on the models. The big surprise was the groin area though. Shooting the hostages where the fly is located causes more damage than a shot to the chest. Although it never killed anyone, I know I'm now going to start aiming at the groin and move up when bursting.

The burst and quick-fire spreads for each weapon were markedly different as well. Everyone knows that at close range, bursting with a sub-machine gun will have almost no spread, ditto quick-firing pistols. At long range, the accuracy is horrendous, but the UMP-45 and the MP5 were the most accurate long range bursters. If there's a lot of people at long range, the UMP or MP5 should be your weapon of choice for damaging opponents in extended or controlled bursts. No other weapon matches them for accuracy. The FN P90 was shocking at close range. It left a spread shaped like a mushroom cloud. Even the TMP and Mac-10 performed better than the FN P90 up close.

Well, that's my amateurs hour of testings worth. I did endeavour to control and keep the conditions the same i.e. same distance, same style etc... How successfully, well, I'd have to get a second opinion on that one.
Huge props go out to Ulunti for taking the time to do the research and send it in.

what, so now we need another icon in CS?

Cyph *bullet through groin icon* Aurora?

better yet, instead of a headshot type sound, we can have a sound where they scream like a little girl as their nether regions get severed by an ak shot.

that screaming like a girl thing would be cool.
it'd add more to the game :)
maybe they should also make them stop and grap their groin or something, cos you can't exactly shrug a shot there off.... :)

Yes, I agree the mp5 has the best burst accuracy,
I would of thought that it would of been obvious by
the way the crosshair changes.

The mp5, in the right hands is perhaps the most versatile
weapon in the game - rapid fire, quick reload and high
accuracy, even while jumping and moving all over the place.

The point is though, weapons like the sig, aug, colt and ak
take more damage - particuarly with first shot accuracy.

One shot, one kill. That's why they're prefered by many.

There's only two people I know who I'll actually pay the way
they use the mp5, two people who actually use it the way
it was intended - [-PC-]kalgo and =)x(=FearMe=)x(=.

It's a high skill weapon, but I also think it's pretty gay
because it's too accurate.

Also, the bulls*** that's being posted about how you unload
a full clip into someone at point blank and them not dying is
a joke. You learn to compensate for the netcode, that's why
the great internet players are better than the good ones.

There's always going to be a difference between LAN and Net,
no matter how fast your connection.

er .. when i first got bpa I had sub 10 pings playing on qgl servers .

the difference between that and lan is?

you're kidding yourself, if you had read any of the other posts, we've allready said that its not the netcode.

its just a gay game with random bullets, a little too random, I couldnt give a rats there's 1000 reasons why I dont play cs anymore.
