I want to install mandrake on my computer. i have a 13gb drive with win2k on it, and i have another 2gb drive. i want to know has anyone done this, or know of any problems i might encounter?? any help would be appreciated. :) |

Shouldn't have any problems I suggest you use the 2gb for mandrake allocation Swap - 400mb /tmp - 300mb /var - 300mb / - 1gb Each of those have their own partitions btw So create the partitions beforehand of course, then allocate those dirs to the partitions after you've fdisked Why you ask? If tmp gets huge and fills your drive you are f***ED linux is the most stable platform in the world, but if it runs out of hdd space, say goodbye to the stable working platform and prepare for reinstall email me if you have any further queries, you know where =) |

Mandrake 7.2 actually uses 3 partitions / /swap /home only partitions it uses, and yeah linux is good :) |

I was going to suggest a partition for /chroot as well, but it seems you aren't going to be running a server, so it's probably not necessary. Also, if you plan on letting other users use the box, /usr might be a good one to farm off to another partition, it all depends on your level of paranoia :) |
