I came, I saw, I went back to WoW.
If you break it down, Warhammer is a f***ing superior game in so many ways and easily would hand WoW it's arse on a platter if both games (including expansions) were released at the same time. However, WoW has 13+mil people which helps when you need them for a group unlike war which has maybe 3 people (4 if you include Jim). |

Yeah I'd rather be playing warhammer but the WoW expansion stole a lot of players so PVP queues take too long. It's a shame really

Can't believe you guys think it was good, it was nowhere near as polished as WoW, and if it wants to compete.. it has to be.
I played for a few weeks with some old friends, we all quit once we realised the end game was just farming the scenarios. |

i played near release for about 2 weeks and got to level 20 something then got bored and haven't touched it since
my gripes were a) it didnt feel like a living breathing world like wow. it just felt like a bunch of hastily thrown together zones and quests that are all the f***ing same. When i first played wow i wanted to explore everywhere, war doesn't have any sort of appeal like that b) the implementation of pvp and being able to level off it etc is superior to wow, but the problem is that the combat system is slow and s***ty and no way near as exciting as wow's. |

Jum I agree with you on both points, the world is very depressing and uses a lot of very bland colours. I love exploring in WoW probably because of the extreme environments you find yourself in.
But the game is fun. Sadly it's not polished like wow. I play on darklands, Skits - destruction. |

Well Jim, my point of views are from a hardcoreish gamer. My friends and i just felt in general it was a lot less complex than WoW. For a game based around PvP, it is too zergy and simple.
When i used to play WoW, in arena and such it was really easy to tell if a player was good or not. It was also really easy to "own" bad players. Warhammer just didn't have that skill dispersion like WoW, and that's saying something. Basically there were things a good player could do to gain an edge, but the edge you gained was really trivial compared to other MMOs. |

wow 'pvp' is completely about gear and hitting keys in a specific order what's the name and server of your toon in warhammer? it's weird you keep using past tense when referring to warhammer end game when it's so young - if you already quit more than say a month ago there would've been bugger all people at the end game compared to now I reckon the total opposite to you - the difference between good players and key mashers is vastly noticeable because you can't get too much advantage from items and stats over what is reasonable for the typical player ie: you don't have to spend insane amounts of time getting iwin gear cos it doesn't exist |

I played a Black Orc till 29 on Anlec, then since the server sucked my guild rerolled on Darklands and i got an Archmage to 36 before i quit. If you've ever played WoW arena competitively, it is anything but hitting keys in a specific order (thats PvE). I quit WoW a while ago now so i can't comment on the new expansion, but i played arena pretty competitively in the last expansion. The thing which i think was really bad about warhammer was the lack of cast bars and decent interrupts. In WoW, you get a proper cast bar timer for enemies. When you play a caster in WoW, to be good at PvP you have to learn how each class plays and then how to bait their interrupt by starting then canceling a spell cast. Warhammer however has no enemy cast bars, and the interrupts are really lame to use. Just a lot of small things like that made warhammer seem like a really simple game comparatively. |

i had to stop playing MMOs.
even stopped playing eve. when i start i just end up dumping so much time into them, time that i could be used for studying, exercising or socialising. all things that are better in the end game of life. |

Warcraft can be turned into a 1 button game, the targeting and cast options are far too powerful. DBM etc take what skill there is in mmo's PvE and remove it. B ut as long as your having fun who cares.

I've also got a 34 shaman, same again Yes, you get interrupted constantly due to every class having a blanket 5 second silence that people use randomally. I realise i didn't experience true end-game, but: 1) The few PvE instances i tried doing throughout the game were bugged, and poorly tuned. Everything was either way to easy, or way too hard. 2) The "endgame" PvP appeared to just be the keep sieges and stuff, which seemed to be based on "zergy" group PvP rather than smaller scale skill based PvP. There is nothing wrong with this, it's just not that type of PvP i find enjoyable. |

I think your comments are all over the shop really. First you say you can't interrupt, now you say you get interrupted constantly - but it's only because of a 5 second silence that people use randomly. Make up your mind. And it's not mostly due to silence spells anyway, it's due to being engaged by people who've chosen a target and are doing various things to make it harder for you to do your job whether it be casting a heal or casting a nuke.
You say the endgame is just queuing scenarios, now you say it's just keep seiges and stuff, and that all end game pvp must be zergy. Which is it? Sure if all you do is queue scenarios what else will it be for you? Likewise, if you just run with a zerg then what else is it going to be for you? Instead, why not split off from the zerg with your awesome pvp skilled group of friends and intercept groups coming out to defend their keep or attack yours. You'll find heeeeeeeeeeeeaps of players who don't like the zerg and are totally interested in running group vs group or solo. Take a couple of BO's and tap on a keep door then patrol the areas between their warcamp and the keep and enjoy the fun. pve instances... yeh there's not many and they can be a bit dodgy. not a big issue for me, on the whole I only like pve for a bit of a break sometimes to help friends level or get a bit of a gear upgrade. they'll sort through the bugs as they already are. if you keep an eye on the herald you'll see they're doing a good job of sorting the issues based on player feedback. I realise a s***eload of people like wow better and there are a lot of good reasons for that - but don't make up dopey stuff that doesn't even make sense. |

I've found the PVP in Warhammer to be a lot better than WOW. But the PVE content is lacking though...severely IMO. Open RVR is the go though, Scenarios are OK but like WOW can get boring. The other night there was a raging battle in Avelorn which just kept getting bigger and bigger. On our side we had almost 3 full warbands and we were out numbered. I find the battles are a lot more epic than they were in WOW. PVP in WOW before it all got care bear'd was good (hillsbrad, booty bay etc). Jim, my point was that in a game like WoW, you actually must use your interrupts wisely rather than just randomly using it (im talking about proper PvP here, everyone knows PvE is just 1 button spam).
Just having played WoW somewhat competitively, then playing Warhammer... Well, for a PvP game, Warhammer's combat system just doesn't feel as refined. We also tried doing some roaming PvP vs some other people in the server, it just felt really stupid with all the 100% Healing debuffs and huge spiky damage etc. Anyway this is just my opinion from playing WoW as a PvP game.. warhammer just wasn't what my friends and i were looking for. Can i also add that the questing system is retarded? One of my mates quit the game at around level 20 because his class couldn't really solo level at all. All that said, it was somewhat enjoyable while i played. I just quit because the PvP was not my type of fun. |

I had terrible frame rates in large scale RvR, even just 1 full warband per side seemed too much. There were also lots of netcode issues, with players and monsters teleporting around the place and instakilling people and such. Actually getting to the relevant RvR area is also something of a chore, it would often take ~10 minutes just to get to the fight, only to find that whatever was going on was already over.
I think the game has a nice art style, but is graphically let down by the poorly synced combat animations. I found the game somewhat unresponsive in this respect, and usually found myself feeling rather disconnected from my interactions in the game world. Another concern for me is that the population isn't really high enough considering how spread out the world content is, and the environment does not feel very dynamic without other players in it. I was in a guild but found organising public quests/normal quests/pvp for groups to be something of a chore. I had some fun with it but I can't see myself going back to it. |

If you scenario frequently you can level using only a single "realm" ie. on my DoK I never stepped into Tier 3 Greenskin or Chaos. And there 3 realms, plus cities plus dungeons. If you skip open rvr, skip scenarios, skip PQs, skip dungeons you can still levels just by doing all 3 realms pve. 100% Healing debuffs Only effect skills listed as "heals" it doesn't effect HoT which are considered buffs, or the pissy chosen one thats considered a curse, or shields (again buffs). And yes damage is huge, BWs are insane. But a good couple of healers make a big difference. Sorry but a rogue can lock someone down. I had a warlock with reasonable gear. demo spec I could pretty much rollmy face on the keyboard 1on1. BGs tab seed tab seed tab seed. In fact the less reliance on gear made that aspect of the game far better and more enjoyable.. I could at the bottom end of a tier jump into a scenario and make a difference instead of being a free HK.
The only downside to War PvP/RvR was missing out on scenarios because you finished that tier - it would've been smarter to allow access to the previous tiers scenarios (albeit in your tier range). |

If you didn't gather from my posts, i was a player who was looking for competitive PvP (something like that arena system in WoW), not stupid PUG battlegrounds. Which reminds me of another thing. War is supposed to be a f***ing group PvP game, yet you can only queue scenarios with 1 group? (The scenarios were usually 2 groups on each faction). I stopped playing months ago so they may have changed it, but even so, massive oversight.
My friend knew what he was doing. On the realm we were on, you would be very lucky to get into 1 scenario in an hour. He played a Shaman, and even as the damage spec, it took him a ridiculous amount of time to kill mobs compared to other classes. |

It's definitely slower to kill stuff than any other class I've tried, but it's nothing that'd make you quit the game unless you're a TOTAL nub. Even with a shaman, I can still level faster solo by questing (the questing system is far from retarded btw) than by any other means in the game grouped or not. Look, this is kinda harsh but by what you've said, you and your friend are really bad at this stuff. |

*boggle* are we speaking the same version of english? how does only being able to queue a single group into a scenario, disqualify it from being a group pvp game I actually forgot to finish up my point for some reason; I was meant to say that if you are playing with a guild or something and have 12 people wanting to scenario together, you have to mess around trying to queue at the same time in the hope that you will get the same pop. My guild just got frustrated because we wanted a challenge in scenarios, rather than playing with/against PUGs all the time. And about the Shaman thing, it was insanely slow for him when he was in the T3 areas. I mean it was doable, but definitely not enjoyable. Part of the reason was that scenarios never popped for our faction, so this was basically the only way he had to level. |
