We often lan here at work and have a few games that get played pretty regularly. I was after any input on some games that are good for 8-10 people and not necessarily based around FPS.
Current games that get played a bit are: COD4 Baboviolent Some q3/2 Company of Heroes Does anybody have some suggestions on old(er) good games that aren't just based on reflex? A good co-op FPS would be cool too. |

At 88's last lan we did co-op Quake single player but put it on ultra hard... many LOL's were had (6 people with GL's trying to kill 1 zombie = :S).
Trackmania was pretty fun, I hooked up my big ass arcade stick (from Ozsticks) via USB and we battled that for a few hours. Need some RTS action, perhaps Warcraft 3? Nobody at 88's lans like RTS :( |

HL2 Deathmatch is pretty fun at a LAN, with the gravity gun shenanigans and all.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare (G.R.A.W) 2 has coop first person. The original Battlefield 1942 / Desert Combat & BF2 (all have Bot support), some of the UT series (also with bot support). "Soldiers: Heroes of WW2" was good fun (apart from the older StarForce crap) - oh and BattleStations: Midway - great multiplayer fun with Battleships/Destroyers/Cruisers vs Subs vs Aircraft Carriers & Planes :P

Ghost Recon+1 The bonus is in lanning you get to physically bash the noob that f***s up the uber coordinated attacks and gets the hostages/VIP killed. |

Serious Sam(: The Second Encounter, 2) is good co-op fps fun. And you can have heaps of people running around in the levels killing the mega-monsters that it spews up.

Yeh the original GRAW was some of the most fun I've had playing co-op. Pity they suck at online and haven't figured out how to make decent server software yet

Ground Control 2 has an awesome campaign which works great in co-op. Brothers in Arms sequel had fun coop too IIRC. |

FlatOut 2 is awesome 8 player action, we played that a lot at the Game Serve lans on the gold coast.
Been wanting to try out a simple little flight game called "Red Baron Arcade" on lan to, it's a flight sim where all you do is fly & shoot, don't have to worry about flaps, landing & all that s***. :) |

I was playing skulltag with my brother last night. You guys know about that right?
There is a mode called invasion where it is co-op and you have to beat wave after increasing wave of monsters. It is totally f***ing insane. |

my friends and I used to have 4 player games of red alert back in the day when 200mhz was the ducks nuts and always enjoyed it, I think C&C generals supports maybe 8 people and I have no idea about C&C3 or if your work machines would run it, for an RTS (or whatever it is) it's system specs requirements almost match that of crysis :(
although it was never really my thing, diablo 1/2 as koopz said can be amusing for a while but I found it better if at least one person knew what they were doing rather than noobs running about slashing up random bad guys. |

I think C&C generals supports maybe 8 peopleIt's a bitch to get running though, plus forget which patch actually f***s up the game too. C&C3 is ok, but really can't be played with 8 as it sucks balls. |

i have all of these games mentioned so far bar 2 in this thread.. at my next lan i think we should do ss2 co-op instead of q1... or both. Also phooks dont delete the TMF install file if you have it because alot of people that will be coming to the next one wont have it.

Also, technically not a lan game, but if you have 4 controllers accessible, Mashed is good fun with four players on one machine. Think Mirco Machine's etc

Far out, I'd kill for some decent lan action!
It has been years since I have been to a decent lan :( GRAW co-op sounds like fun +1 for GTA San Andreas multi player (and all the game modes that go with it) Can't go past the quake series as well. |
