Friend of mine's parents own some asian restaurant there.

Only went there once but the food was pretty good for the price.

Can't remember the name for the life of me though >.< I only remember where it is

I love Kapsali, right on the pools there. Really nice if youre in the deck overlooking the pool are and the river. Also huge range, great prices, nice seafood. Can be loud if your seated inside on a busy night.

ick. bartenders everywhere hate you for ordering that. generic chocolate drink that has no alcohol flavour.
also, not milk, MYLK. and no, it lost about halfway through the series, therefore it closed.

Agreed with San Marcos and Ahmets. Only went to San Marco's once for my birthday a few years ago, but it was really nice. I go to Ahmets every year for my mate's birthday and we all love it there. Especially if you go on the weekend when they have the belly dancing on and they get you to get up and dance with them, that's a bit of fun. The banquets are amazing

Don't think I've ever seen/noticed Era Bistro before?? Haven't really been the restaurants around Southbank for quite some time. The new sushi train next to the cinemas is pretty good though too.

I'll admit, I'm still a big fan of the old sushi train on Elizabeth Street, even tho it's nothing fancy it has a pretty wide range of food and has some pretty awesome bento boxes. But yea Paveway, the sushi train at Chermside is awesome. Going there Thursday night for dinner :D

True that, I ate everyweek at the Redcliffe sushi train for years... then my mate turned me onto the Chermside one.

Their nigiri is sooo ridiculously fresh FTW.

i've eaten at 2 places in the city and they both had this weird not-fresh taste about them.

Agreed, Chermside tastes so much more fresh than any other sushi trains around, except for maybe the new Southbank one, they're pretty good there too.

The best sushi place I found in the city is on Adelaide street just up from the entrance to David Jone's - basically opposite Ted's cameras. Always has a queue out on the footpath.

Now I don't work in the city :(

Best Sushi is had at either Sono in Queen St / Portside, or Oyama in the Valley.

You pay for it. But it's f***ing good.

Well, belly dancers are supposed to actually have a belly, not be super thin. Traditionally, that is.

Also, went to Sono for lunch with my Japanese class last year and it was awesome. My bento box was really good

3rd vote for portside sono, had my 21st dinner there was pro.

If you like your japanese trog the Ginga on little grey st is nice. Just make sure it's the little grey st one tho and not the ginga sushi train next to the imax.

what?

there are 2 ginga's in southbank the sushi train next to the imax which is the good one and the s***ty little take away down on little grey street which has pre-made sutff in packs...

The s***ty take away one actually has a decent restaurant part inside. The takeaway stuff is crap but restaurant food is pro

The only time that I have been to Ahmets we scored some free bread and dips.

After we ordered they brought out the plate of Turkish bread and dips and we though 'That's nice, complimentary dips'. We also were wondering what the wiredo's were looking at sitting next to us.

Turns out we were eating their entree. They weren't too happy about that. Other than that the food was ok without been great.

Thanks guys, hit up Kapsali last night and had a good feed before seeing Phantom of the Opera.

Man, I haven't been to Southbank in like 10 years - cannot believe how much its changed since then. Lots of restaurants to choose from now!

Phantom is the ultimate musical. Went to see it again last month (saw it last time it came to Bris). See it before any other.

Yeh it was OK. I'd seen it before so was, in all honesty, a bit underwhelmed by the thing as a whole, but I could appreciate it on its technical merits.

Also, dinner funny at kapsalis - while I was sitting there finishing my meal (was sitting outside on the deck under the tree) a cockroach fell out of the tree and landed on my plate. Fortunately it was right at the end of the meal so I didn't really give a s***, but it could have been worse!@#
