Well my ADSL is all setup up, i am excite! I've been without internet for so long and have so many game demos, movie trailers, and shareware that I want to download!

I prepared a large queue list last week while using wireless and now im just trying to decide which download manager I should realease it on.

I've tried Internet Download Manager (IDM) which is pretty good but can get annoying if I don't want to use it for a d/l or i just want a simple 'run' command instead of having to download it and manually browse to the folder and open it.

At work i use Free Download Manager (FDM) which is great, and if you click cancel when it pops up from clicking a link itll send it through to the IE download dialogue which lets you yous the 'run' command. It also supports pasting a list of links from clipboard into queue which i dont think IDM does. It also has automated throttling incase you are using a browser too.

I havent used DAP or Getright or Flashget or anything else in years, so I dont know what they are like nowday.

So i was just wondering what D/L managers you use and what are the features they have in particular that you like?

For me the things I like to see include-
- Browser integration
- BW limiting and automated throttling for browsing
- Copy-Paste link lists & individuals
- Ability to handle large queues
- 'Remember last folder' option
- Notes per download (eg for rar pw's)
- Queue prioritization
- Option to 'run' instead of 'save'

I use flashget + flashgot and firefox. if you don't want to run it through flashget hold alt+shift and click on a link and it opens it up in firefoxes dialog to run, save, etc.

Getright comes close to all the things you mentioned. Give it a try, i like it. I've used it since back in the dialup days where I had a PC which would turn itself on at a quarter to 1am, dial, resume downloads, disconnect at 5am, save downloads, shutdown all automatically.

Getright or flashget are your best two bets, this thread seems to pop up a bit.

Anyone still got the version of Getright where this hot sounding chick tells you when your downloads are finished etc? This is old skool dialup days but one of the official releases.

i use flashget, but one thing that annoys me is that if you queue something to download under a schedule (for offpeak rape) you can't force it to download now if you change your mind. at least i havnt figured out how

Is there a download manager that will detect a video file on the ga files library and ask me to save the file rather than trying to play it through firefox? I have tried FDM and flashget. No dice.

If you know the actual version number there might be a chance I still have it. I don't know if I've thrown them all out or not but I used to get those magazines with cd's on them and almost every one had getright on it along with the latest version of IE/Netscape (yes they're that old).

edit: actually try here
