Saw this on Whirlpool:

Gallipoli: The Game:
Gallipoli: The Game is a stunning recreation of Australia's greatest military adventure. As a commander in the Great War (WWI), you take on the role of leading the prime of Australia's armed forces as they launch an all-out assault on the Central Powers (the Germans, Austrians and the Ottomans). Gameplay is similar to the hit PC game, Lemmings, except, instead of trying to save your soldiers, your mission, as an authentic WWI commander, is to wipe out as many diggers as possible ... the more gruesomely, the better!

Someone was crying about it there being disrespectful to Australians and diggers; at first glance it appears to be just a political statement about the ineptness of the British commanders and a few other things, but thought it was interesting.

So, am I right in assuming no matter how good you are, you spend most of the time stationary in a trench before basically being evacuated?

No offence to diggers and I presume the makers maybe wanted to help awareness (read remembrance) but I'd presume most veterans wouldn't want people playing videogames of their horrendous situation.

D-Day is a different story however... DoD forever.

considering there is only 1 digger still alive, and i'm pretty sure he doesn't know how to use gzip he won't be playing it anytime soon.

Hey, their memory lives on inside all of us. Least that's what they say every ANZAC day.

gzip seriously isn't that hard to use either.

Yeah Matt, but I prefer 2.0 ;o All I remember from 1.3 is Ramil spawncamping me on the beach with a sniper rifle.

I like the game in the fact that it points out we lost, and war is all about losing.
