What is the best brand of 32" LCD Television for $1500. Doesn't need to be anything special and I'm guessing all of them these days would have a built in HD tuner? Doesn't need any special inputs either like HDMI and what have you. Any brand so long as it's not going to blow up in a month.

Oh and I'm asking for my friend so I'm not sure if full 1080i/p is a concern or not.

Most of them come with HDMI now days. Just tell him to go to a shop and find the one he likes the best in terms of pic quality, how it will look on his wall/table etc.

Sif get plasma. Ever heard of a plasma monitor for the pc. Forget about it.

LCD is where its at for modest size TV's

Steer away from LG. that is just the new name for Goldstar. No other companies just up and change name. Its cause that company is farrked.

This is the 32 inch samsung. We have the smaller 26" and its not too shabby. This 32" has inbuilt HD tuner.

Yeah I know LG = goldstar, I have a hatred for LG and will never buy anything they make (rather like sony) but my friend on the other hand, I think he might be forced to get the cheapest thing he can find even if it is LG.

Personally I too am a samsung fanboy <3 my 19" LCD monitor :D

that is just the new name for Goldstar

I thought they bought our their plants and warehouses , not the company in general, because goldstar went broke. LG were pretty good when they first came out and their white good products are quite good.

Still, if I had to buy a LCD TV right now, it would be a samsung. They look f***ing unreal

Le Cock that seems like a good price but i have no idea about tv's and the difference between plasma and LCD...

All i want to do with it is mainly watch DVD's, play xbox and watch the damn thing occasionally. Not really bothered about hooking up my PC to it etc...

Can anyone recommend anything else around the same price/specs that suits my needs?!?!

I'M A MAN AND I HAVE NEED DAMN IT!

^^ any LCD TV mentioned in this thread by the looks of it since someone said most of them seem to come out with the ability to hook up to a pc/xbox now anyway. I guess with the interconnectivity wars and microsoft trying to turn your house into one big media center just about everything will be pc compatible these days.

If you wanted it as a tv i mean.

Yeah no games are going to be played on this thing, I think the only gaming device he owns is an old playstation 2

what? no I wasn't replying to you, I was saying my friend isn't going to be playing games on his so PC connectivity isn't an issue, you can feel free to get plasma if you think it looks good but as far as I know they have a shorter lifespan than LCD, plasma fanboys care to confirm?

Panasonic is probably the best LCD at 32in at the moment. It realy depends if he is going to be hooking it up to a PC as JB have a 32" plasma for $648 tommorow, had a look the other day and was better picture quality than all except the expensive 32"lcd's.

Its only 852x480, but then if he doesnt have any HD source inputs then he doesnt need any higher, and would probably look better on things like foxtel.
