Does anyone here play Planetside or has played Planetside? If so, do they recommend it?

This is a broad generalisation but by and large QGL can be split into pretty much 4 categories of which 3 are all but one category.

1: Everquest players(ex or current)
2: DAoC players(ex or current)
3: WoW players
4: People who hate MMOs

So yeah, i'm doubting anyone here would actively recommend Planetside. But it's a big forum so you might find one or two.

I played Planetside when it was first released.

I left Planetside when in an effort to get more people playing they brought in a stupidly lame CTF game because apparantly people like CTF. What Dave G fails to realise in his crack induced coma is that people like CTF because it's brainless and simple so including a complex CTF mini-game that lives inside a capture and hold game isn't gonna improve things.

For australian servers in particular, the Euro server meant that the server was empty by late AU peak.

Ultimately my opinion is that the game was ruined by a lack of PvE. Even if it was PvE guards in the bases it would have improved things a lot.

Anybody who's as old, and as dirty, as you will have played most major MMOs that have been out.

Dave G is probably the single worst game designer that has ever lived. If it wasn't for the fact that he is already working for SOE, I would have said the only place deserving of him is a pit filled with s***.

Planetside is awesome. I played for a few months and had a great time with it.

the first month or so is a steep, but fun learning curve.

i have co-ordination and a desire to do things outside and interact with humans without using a pc

i played PS, it was all right, lacked any serious population most of the time so you could only get in good fights at one period of a day usually. apart from that, it was ok.

Funnily enough... i was thinking of you, shad and bubba when i wrote the three basically being one category comment.

The only reason it wasn't a 2 category classification was because of the DAoC hard core crowd and the "MMOs suck, MMOs are pointless, oh wait... WoW is cool" bandwagon.

I call it the gamers dilemma.

All the gaming companies bar 2 get bought by EA and turned into steamy dogs***(as is their way).

One company is run by Dave G. The other is run by the Romero.

That being said, it's a bit of a Hobson's Choice really... Get raped in every orifice or don't play games.
