Channel 10 dubbed it's episode of House last week the "Season Finale" and isn't showing anymore house, and Channel 7 had the "Season Finale" of Heroes last week and isn't showing anymore. I just assumed this was a result of the writer's strike, but when I checked on the net, both shows are still going? Wtf are 7 and 10 doing?

They are probably going into hiatus for a few weeks so you can benefit from quality family christmas television. The 'series finale' s*** is something they've been pulling on shows mid-season for years now... I could speculate about that, but the real answer is they're morons.

maybe they can't figure out how to port forward a tcp port for utorrent and they're sick of slow downloads

Australian networks have never respected the episode order or season length, they make their own schedules to suit the number of weeks etc.. they need to fill.

they did it with grey's anatomy as well. The ch7 "season1" was actually all of season 1 and half of season 2 if you go by the episodes as they appear on tv.com. Australian TV is f***ed up, no wonder so many people choose to watch other forms of entertainment.

I'd love a TV show that would teach people how to spell.

It might also have something to do with them stopping short in preparation for the writers strike fallout.

It is all to do with the WGA (Writers guild of America). Basically half of the writers for the shows have gone one strike halfway through the seasons. They intend on striking until the other main writers organisation comes up for renewal unless they reach an agreement earlier but that is doubtful. Some sources say there may be an agreement reached before christmas but nothing official.

The writers guild want more money because they aren't getting kickbacks from the DVD sales and nowadays DVD sales is a high percentage of revenue in comparision to recent years.

Because of this the TV stations are going to stretch the shows out as long as they can however they will air shows that were intended for christmas etc. Shows like "Chuck" probably won't even come back as they are in their first season and this will seriously f*** with their popularity.

I understand that shows aren't going to run for their full seasons because of the writers strike, thats why it makes even less sense. Channel 7 finish Heroes on episode 9 and use that as their "season finale" but then the actual season only has 2 more episodes in it anyway and finishes at episode 11 because of the writer strike. Why not just shows those last two episodes, whats the point in holding them back? I'm baffled.

As CTD said, end of the ratings season in Aus. Ad revenue is less during this period, so they don't want to waste the 'good' shows.

They also don't get royalties from on-line sales.

Still waiting on the last Bionic Woman in the US to hit the net this arvo. Curb Your Enthusiasm finished yesterday which sucks ass because that show is hilarious and next week is the last ep of Chuck. Also one ep of Heroes to go as well.

Gonna be a boring summer.

Whats going to happen with shows that haven't even started yet like 24 and BSG and Lost? Are we just not going to see them at all until the strike is over?

If the strike does not find resolution, 24 will be held over until January of 2009.

At this stage Lost has 8 eps in the can, and ABC want to air them regardless - the 8th episode is a major cliffhanger, and they're happy to leave viewers hanging on till Jan 2009.

No official word on BSG, but it doesn't look good.

The natural Christmas break is almost upon the Fall Lineups, so most shows would be about to take a break anyway. It's just that, at the moment, it's a rest that knows no end. Talks have resumed this week - some are even quoting a possible resolution before Christmas. We'll see..

Don't forget, the Screen Actors Guild gets to do this all over again next year..

Latest offer was thrown out by the WGA yesterday. Strike will continue for a couple more weeks at least, until another proposal can be delivered.

These writers probably earn a nice living already... compared with the poor old camera guy who has lost his job due to the lack of work.

In the last few minutes they should put "...3 months later" and then cut to a scene with the Peter, Nathan and co jumping around yelling, we won, we won.

And then have THE END!

How much would that piss people off.

LOL
