A new version of Firefox has been released, bringing the popular free, open source browser to version 2.0.0.10. You can nab it locally from AusGamers. This is just a security update so no major new features, but as always worth the upgrade. |

^^ yeah I got sick of opening it up every damn day and it pisses me off with its stupid message telling me there's updates for noscript/adblock. They seem to be updated more than any other plugin. So I disabled auto updates. Don't know why I still use this s***, I switched to opera a while ago but when I formatted I went back to firefox for some odd reason :( Probably because it has all my forum passwords stored and I'm too lazy to retype them into opera :)

i havent had any memory issues with FF apart from the leaky extensions ive used.
theres a few lists of extensions that have memory leaks. take them out and ff should be nice, fast, and not so hungry |

Just wish they'd hurry up and fix the memory issues, my copy of firefox is currently using 370Mb of memory which seems pretty average if you've got several tabs open for a while. Other browsers like Opera and Galeon don't seem to suffer like firefox does in that respect.

Weird....I've had this browser session up for about 3 days now...have a whole bunch of pages open trying to find info in MSDN and I'm too lazy to save the links. The memory usage is around 70MB. |

I don't know about having tabs open for an extended period of time because I don't leave FF open. If I go to play a game I close it down, along with most stuff I have running. Just reading this one page it uses 37MB opera uses 11MB. Mind you I have a bunch of plugins installed in firefox and a theme or two. Only thing I have for opera is a theme, none of those widget things.

As noted above it is more likely to be leaky extensions I think?
I've had no less than four vendors in my face about the f***ing Power Of the Open Source Movement, surely Firefox couldn't be a piece of s*** with that much Power! last edited by Hogfather at 11:20:01 02/Dec/07 |
