I just snapped up a Wii and am craving some japanese language games, so I can get them earlier and cheaper. I have used play-asia in the past, are they still the best to use?
Also, I need to mod my wii so I can play them, anyone know of anyone who could do it? and for how much? |

What's the serial number of your Wii? (it's on the console, code: LAHxxx, just read out the first few digits (not all)).
I recommend Brisbane Modchips, with the price ranging from $100-195 depending on what serial # you have (newer models are harder to chip). last edited by parabol at 16:45:33 23/Nov/07 |

yer, have to be careful with modded wii's and nonpal games though (a chance of bricking)
but a wiimod is definately worth while; my mod guy sold me his last wiikey though, apparnetly nintendo are going after modchip makers (suing, etc) |

$100-$195? hell, i bought my mod chip at <$30 and installed it myself... geez, talk about daylight robbery. Having said that mine is a 1st gen wii, so it was pretty easy.

^ Yeah Nintendo has done some changes in newer models, such that you need to solder about 30 or so wires into a small region, using a newer and more expensive chip.
I've been soldering for years, but I'd probably leave it for the Pros and their warranty. Less f***ing around in the long-term. Here we go: http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~boldajis/images/wd.jpg last edited by parabol at 19:13:50 23/Nov/07 |

can i ask a dumb question?
well no questions are dumb (so i tell my staff) but why mod a Wii? what does this allow you to do? i got one last week so my missus would get into it. she wasn't keen on GOW and Halo 3 on my 360 (women! isn't shooting up everything in sight everyones first love) anyway we love the sports that came with it and just got Mario & Sonic Olympics but haven't given it a run yet |
