Dear QGL Travellers,

I'm struggling a bit to find information on taiwan and google maps isnt helping much either on how far it is to get from "Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport" TPE airport to Taipei itself to see the Taipei 101. i'm going to be in transit for a few hours so thought it would be cool to check it out. anyone visited the place and able to shed light on how long it takes to get there from the airport? entry to the observation deck is AU$12 whcih is the only thing ive been able to find

yeah i did exactly that in january on my way back from whistler had 7 hours transit in taipei.

theres basically a bus counter at the airport, it's to the right-hand side once you get in. it costs a few bucks to catch a bus that goes practically to taipei 101. to get back i walked to a train station and caught the metro but there's probably a return bus too.

i didn't really have any info when i got in there just walked around asked some people at an information desk thingy and they directed me to the bus desk who pretty much told me what to do. most of them can speak at least some english.

just be careful at the time you're going and how long it takes to get from the airport and back so you don't miss your flight. i almost did :O

i was there at sunset and the views were f***ing awesome. i'd say you will definately make it - i almost missed the plane cause i also stopped off at the shilin night markets.

my suitcase was checked cause i was on the same airline from vancouver-bris so i didn't have to pick it up. unless you're switching airlines you shouldn't have to pick it up - even if you do 6 hours should be plenty unless there's some kind of mega traffic jam or something.
