Here it is, one of the year's most anticipated releases has hit store shelves this week and we pulled ourselves away from all the other AAA titles currently doing the rounds to give you our thoughts. Is this Game of the Year then? Or just a meaty contender for the coveted spot? One thing's for sure, among the great games currently hitting retail, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is definitely one worth your time. Click here for the full AusGamers skinny. |

Unfortunately IW have a bit of a history (IIRC?) of not releasing SDKs for the Call of Duty series, so you don't get the usual advantage of a series of awesome mods to more than justify the purchase. That said multiplayer seems pretty popular so it's probably worth it just for that alone.

You'd be a fool to buy it for the singleplayer, 8 hours isn't exactly worth $90. You'd be a fool to buy it for $90. Get it on steam, so much cheaper! |

Sorry, game of the year = mass effect, everything else is just a contender.

I am tempted to buy this off steam. I can see the SP being a bit boring once you get over the awesome cinematic stuff, however multiplayer cod2 was pretty fun. Would this MP drag me off TF2?

Unlikely. The multiplayer is good, but it was the opposite way for me. I had the multiplayer beta for CoD4, which I was loving, but the last day I played it was the first day TF2 was available. You're likely to play both, but probably TF2 more than CoD4. That's how I would be, anyway.

Well god damn what good game! As people have already mentioned it plays like a movie and every mission really stands out.
The favorites though would have to be the whole assasination, the nuke and the part where im up to which is spamming aistrikes |

First part of the assassination was by far my favourite, the escape afterwards probably close to the worst section in the game.
Shooting probably at least 100 enemies that just keep streaming out from nowhere is really tedious and s***. Those parts that got arcadey ruined the game for me. I still enjoyed most parts but there were some bits I though utterly sucked. |

This game has some good spots but the f***ing infinitely respawning and insta-homing in enemies is really beginning to piss me off. Can't last long enough to put the sniper dude in the chopper. Grr.
Edit: All good, I overcame the infinite enemies by hiding in a part of the map that no enemies are scripted to go to. Take that scripts! last edited by parabol at 02:10:35 18/Nov/07 |

Still not sure if I should get CoD4 or TF2, I'm getting one and it is for the multiplayer aspects. QGL, help me choose! :D
