you shouldnt be really using thermal tape for ur CPU, u should be using a thermal compund, like goo stuff ive only got tape on my GF2 mx 200 which came with no heatsink at all on my MX 400 i have thermal paste with a blue orb, i dont know that much, but i doubt using the thermal tape on a CPU would be a good idea
Get some arctic silver, transfers the heat beautifully :)

yeah thermal tape is meant to do that.
Arctic silver is the best for cooling, but for best results you need to apply it on a clean heatsink/cpu before you've used tape or something.
Even so, it gave a 3 degree drop on my friends cpu after tape...

hehe i ripped off the heatsink i stuck on my MX 200 and then couldnt find anything to stick this old gold orb i had lying around :) yer i know im insane takes 2 PCI slots, so the tape was a bit mangled but i got it to stick back on :) im not too worried it came out of the box with NO heatsink at all now ive got a 60mm fan i found propped up with blobs of blutak sitting under the heatsink stuck to my network card, im so dodgy, i can be bothered to take it out and glue it to the heatsink hehe

yeah that is what i thought, and plus the thermo engine box says it supports upto a 1.7 palomino so it shouldnt have a problem

The thermal tape melted how?....If the heatsink was fitted properly then the CPU shouldnt have overheated. If the CPU has no physical damage to it they may swap it for you. BTW who fitted the heatsink and fan...you or the Umart staff?
