I had to go and check the sticky about the posting for sale threads and whilst I know that it's not allowed, there was a couple of threads in here where a few people bought these cheap and everyone seemed pretty into it. Anyway i'm getting one and i'm looking for $900 for it i'll deliver in Brisbane, it's brand new unopened, warrant, so on.
Thanks |

3 year warranty, invoice from dell with an ABN, addressed to my company etc
I'll save that $100 on my tax and not have to deal with any warranty issues through a 3rd party also paying it off interest free so really, you should probably drop your price if anything yeah but like everyone else reading this, I've already got a screen. As for that - technically, I did wait around to save $200.. $300 in fact last edited by teq at 13:27:55 14/Sep/07 |

As much as you'd like to say that it's brand new, I definitely distinguish between something that's bought direct from the people who sell it, as opposed to some guy who's got one thing to sell and it's this Dell monitor that's supposedly brand new and he's selling it on a forum for $100 off. Who knows where you got it, how you got it, whether you'll be around if the warranty needs to be claimed, whether you'll give a receipt, what version of the monitor it is (your version of brand new doesn't mean it's the latest monitor).
The point everyone's making is that you're not taking a lot off... of course the major problem is that you're trying to sell into a market thats was well taken care of by (and remembers well) a product that was actually brand new, came with more bits, and was significantly cheaper than the product you're trying to sell. Ebay might be a better place to sell. Certainly you should try to sell your monitor for what you can, but it boggles my mind why you'd wonder why someone else would choose differently to your product when you really aren't selling under the same conditions... no matter how "brand new" you say it is. |

All the better to look at himself with
http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/2526/goreqo7.jpg On a side note, does anyone have clearer details on when Dell release their new Display Port monitors? If these retail for the similar price as current models, I'll wait for them. http://gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2007/05/dell display port2.jpg Feast your eyes on Dell's sexy new LCD. It measures about half an inch thick and packs a resolution that's 4x sharper than the current HDTV resolutions. It's part of Dell's new Display Port technology. last edited by Lynx at 21:06:45 14/Sep/07 |

So....someone is trying to sell the 24" LCD for $900 when it's ~$799 directly from DELL?nah it's $1200 on special usually, occasionally it's $1000 and if you are lucky enough to have a heavy discount coupon at the right time you'll get it for $800 |

I've been aware of that offer only twice this year so far. Plus limited to the first 300 customers. Kind of a far cry from it being '~$799 from Dell' eh

sucker!!! the 27" has the same pixels as a 24"It's still bigger. I'd personally throw in the extra $200 and get myself a 30" if I was to spend that much. There are some 37" LCD's out on the market, haven't seen any locally though. All that's floating around is the dodgy LCD TV's. |

as you go up in size you go down in performance.
rise/fall times on 30" monitors suck, when compared to a 19-24" if you care about it, it will make all the difference when choosing a monitor my top priorities when selecting the 24" were in this order * native 1080p display * speed - rise/fall * price * size |

i know the 27 has the smae res as 24 that why i bought it.... would rather bigger pixel... eg... like the 22 better then the 20" same res though... dont like real small res....
I was going to buy 30" for 1500 however.... you need to DVI ports just to run it... for 1 my dell xps 1710 laptop only has 1 dvi and plus how do you play games with a huge ass res... even with 27" you still need a computer that can play games at 1920 x 1200 res... which is crazy!! |

parabol, admittedly I really don't have any idea
I've just been told that 24" is the smallest monitor you can use which will do 1080p without either way, this is the first new monitor I've bought in 7 years so I'm happy with it. |

True, but I'm kind of hoping the release of the new monitors will push down the price of the current models and make them more affordable. I don't want to pay more then $700 for the Dell 24", coupons or not.

parabol, admittedly I really don't have any idea Well my 19" LCD is 1280x1024. If I set it to 1280x800 for example, it'll letter-box the top and bottom without any stretching whatsoever. This option can be changed to make it scale or letterbox, in the graphics driver options: http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~boldajis/images/lbox.png |

ok, but you can't run 1080p because you don't have 1080 lines of resolution or something.. and 24" is where they start to have >1080 lines.. right? last edited by teq at 17:32:11 15/Sep/07 |

Has anyone with a dell monitor had any problems with dead/bright pixels? Their warranty doesn't instill confidence:
A display with 1 to 5 fixed pixels is within the industry standards, and is therefore considered an acceptable display. |

got my 2407wfp-hc for $799 with a pure-av hdmi cable chucked in last week, and had no deal pixels and its pretty much perfect for my needs. the $849 deal is for the monitor plus razor mouse and sennheiser gaming headphone but i think that deal is over as well now.
the only bug the 2407wfp-hc has is a inverse ghosting issue which at the most extreme looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljRCxlf0njk . however with my 2407 i don't get it to that extent. it's so small and happens so rarely to me, i don't really notice it unless i go looking for it. dell have a 10 day money back guarantee anyway, so if it does annoy you just return it. and dell has a 0 dead pixel exchange warranty within 10 days of the invoice date (guaranteed new monitor if available apparently). if your looking for a good 24" lcd with a non TN panel, then i would wait for the next discount code to come along. they seem to be occurring pretty frequently now as well. best place to check when the coupon discounts come up is the 2407 thread in the video cards forum on ocau. |

You can get 24inch Samsungs for under $800.
I was going to get a 30 inch lcd because the 32 inch TVs were so over priced. For a couple hundred dollars more you get a slightly smaller monitor that does full 1080p and can be used as a second PC monitor. Ended up getting a dodgy 37 inch 1080p Acer TV for $1800 that has worked brilliantly ever since. |

I don't know if I would pay an extra $300+ for a USB hub and card reader I could get separately for less then $50 combined. If there was a big difference in the viewing quality or the warranty then I'd consider it but little gimmicky addons that aren't worth much don't seem to be value for money in my mind.

yeah to be honest, I've never used anything on my 24" dell other than the LCD pixels and the on/off button
also, I f***ing love apples for their 'sensor' touch on/off buttons you only notice it when they're side by side, but I have to push my dells button really hard compared to the soft touch of the apple, the dell monitor moves around when you do it to so you're always readjusting it |

Try holding most of your hand behind the monitor and pressing the button with your thumb. Also I don't really mind Acers but there's a few here at work and they just look cheap. I think Samsung monitors have a similar soft touch button on their higher end range now too.

the point was I don't have to do it with the apple monitor, the dell probably only moves so much because of the neato stand they come on these days - which allows even a giant like myself to have it at the right height/angle
for anyone who has owned an apple cinema display, they'll know what im talking about |

Yeah, video connections would be the only other real consideration. Hell the only reason I even own a TV is because I needed somewhere to plug in an Xbox and Wii.
