Well you're probably right as I didn't bother reading it. I may have seen something pretty damn close to this for star wars or something? I know there has been something like this.

And those stories that are about "the worst team" like Mighty Ducks, Sister Act, Dodgeball... follow the exact same plot just in a different setting. The team/class sucks, they get a new coach/teacher who turns the team around, unfortunatly the coach has some personal issues also, and often before the 'big game' at the end something happens to prevent the coach or the star player being there, the team doesn't necessarily win the competition but instead wins on some other level.

It's the "Hero's Journey" storyline.

Apparently Star Wars Ep IV (A New Hope) is very similar as well. Lucas plagiarized Akira Kurosawa's Samurai film "The Hidden Fortress".


Kurosawa porbably copied "Hero's Journey" themes from ancient middle eastern, asian and greek stories.
