Kat, you know what a decent forum looks like since you whore as many as you can and have seen what a proper editing box looks like, and it's not another page in which you occasionally have to sign into again. The thread starter has a valid complaint imo.

post editing is actually something I'm thinking about ditching entirely; perhaps changing to the digg system of giving you only 60 seconds or whatever to edit to correct typos and stuff

I thought ausforums was changing... you know, to something a bit more modern. How long has the AGN system been around? I know everyone's very proud of how far it has come, but by today's standards it's pretty pox. You could have a shiny new flexible system developed fairly quickly on an opensource framework or highly customisable cms.

While I understand about how gay it is to login to edit...
People bringing up 'looks' and age are stupid. If this was like all the new 'flashy' forums it would be just as gay as them. |

You're stupid.
A 'Flashy new' forum would be gay. I thought that was fairly clear. I underestimated just how strong the former is. |

I wasn't proposing anything flashy, or potentially gay. It could look exactly the same, it just won't be annoying and slow. The HTML output is evidence that it wasn't written with modern standards in mind.

The thread starter has a valid complaint imo. But QGL is QGL and that is how it works on QGL. Plus, it is merely two clicks away "edit" "login". Save your passwords and you won't have an issue. It is hardly 'complaint worthy'. Soft cocks |

5 years ago when the Internet consisted of Adam Sandler mp3s and porn maybe that would be the case, but now there are a lot of sites people go to and have come to expect something from the interface and workflow of a forum. People are smarter and know you've done something wrong, they understand that when they've logged in to a site they shouldn't have to authenticate again - especially when the authentication screen looks completely different from the website.

I don't live in Wynnum, I just thought it would be cool to use that location.
8-( Also, don't mess with the forums because they are awesome as it is. QGL has the best color scheme out of most of the ones I've been to and that edit thingy is hardly worth whinging about. Takes like a couple of secs to go from the edit screen back to here. |

PMSL.....one thing that really pisses me about users, is that they don't understand that they are doing exactly what the designers have told them to do.
The designers of QGL have designed the editing facilities that way for a reason, so get over it. If they decide to change it so that you have to stand on your fark'n head to edit your posts, then that is what you will do if you want to continue using the site. Otherwise, fark off. (Says me, who always complains about peoples links...hahahaha....but then again....I'm the Bear!) PS: Compose your posts in a word processor and then paste it into your thread. That way, if you can't spell, the puter will teach you. Those are the Bear Facts of the matter. ^_^ FB |

I actually reall love the Ausgamers forums. i think they're fast, easily one of the most readable and functionable, and let you block sigs/avatars and don't use BBCode.
I'd be sadly disapointed if they switched to some thirdparty forum software. The edit function is designed that way for multiple reasons i presume. One of which is to encourage you to spellcheck, read, and think about your posts before you hit the submit button. |

Meh, I don't have a problem with it.
Normally I just hit enter or submit - whatever the button is - then click 'home' to go back to my home page and then click my link to QGL from my home page and I'm back there. Takes all of a few seconds. |

hahaha so true. Who is so retarded that they struggle with the edit function!? Nine times out of ten I can edit a post quickly enough that it doesn't even put the edit tags on.
I've tried using other forums but they are all spammy as f*** and people have these oversized av's and sigs that are more often than not bigger than the posts. Keep it simple, stupid. And srsly, did NO ONE complain about the search function?! |

Probably most important to least imo.
- Search - Edit function (one click and auto removal of edit details for multiple edits) - Quote button Apart from that I don't see any extra functionality that I would actually use. |

I second the search capabilities of this. Also I like the look and feel of qgl. Finally, I agree, this is the f***ing internet, who cares if you spell s*** right, so long as 'most' people can understand it :) |

If it annoys you so much don't post berlin wall. Seriously what better thing have you got to do really, you're posting on an internet forum it's not like you're saving the world or anything, I'm sure you could spare a couple of seconds of your precious time.
P.S. I think Ausforums is fine as it is. |

the thing i like about the qgl editing system is it encourages you to carefully re-read your posts and contemplate them before submitting. close to 70% of the time (higher since google indexing) this results in me moving on without posting, which goes a long way to improving the quality of discourse here and reducing spam.

Fark it, just pull down the forums and I'll get Nats to resurrect the old Soul Assassins forum. Now that was a quality (unmoderated) forum where you could post all kinds of inflammatory rhetoric and no-one complained. Things were much simpler then.

Well I'm sorry but you guys are full of s***, I'm a developer and I can see it's slow, and I have an eye for these things. The only way this page will load in 2 seconds is if the entire page is DOWNLOADED within those 2 seconds. If you download HALF A PAGE, on most sites you would see HALF A PAGE, on this website you DONT SEE ANYTHING. If you're capped, once the forum posts load you have to wait another 3 minutes for the code of the "post reply" table to download. |
