Woah, that guy has mad skills.

I can't see anyone getting to that level though without SERIOUS injuries.

What are the comps called? Most of the times they were held indoors on manmade creeks/rivers with custom made courses of rock hopping... some of the courses got so ridiculous and even the best riders would get snapped.

It's called technical riding or trials.

Frankly I just prefer downhill, but I'm too much of a whimp for that so I stick to Cross Country (XC). Of course, even doing that you still manage injuries (eg, the broken collarbone and finger I currently have) - of course that's nothing compared to someone I heard of who separated all of his ribs from his spine recently during a downhill run. Serves him right for not wearing his armour though.

The thing about technical riding is that even when you don't injure yourself, you end up destroying a crapload of components. The number of disc rotors and derailluers you'll just completely trash is pretty substantial, so like all cycling it becomes a prety expensive hobby.

Edit: Okay, seriously. That forward flip just screeeeeams "Buuuuuulshiitttt!!"

I used to ride trials, and the amount of time you need to put into it is seriously insane. Some of the guys I used to ride with had been riding for 5+ Years and were nowhere near that level so much respect

That 2nd video was even more insane (and better filmed), where he rides across a chain. wow.

yeah trials has been around since the early 90's, awesome fun too! Used to try my hand at it when i was racing DH/XC, it's mostly just practice but and theres no risk of serious injury if you stick to beginers terrain and advance with your skills. Youtube Hans Ray if you want to see more, he was pretty much one of the origionals of trials riding.

Hah, I'm walking proof that this isn't true - My accident was coming down a flat hill; Erin (who's the Expert Mens State Champ) did his collarbone over what was nothing more than a short dip in the ground, nothing complicated.

I'm wondering if what you're talking about here is a clip from Super8, as there's a few clips from that and plenty of Aussies.
