I'm trying to track down a partition resizing tool, but haven't had much luck yet.
If anyone can suggest something, I'd be really grateful. Requirements are as follows: 1. Free 2. Resizes partitions without destroying data 3. Windows-based 4. Ideally, looks good in a thong and makes me waffles in the morning. I've been asked to put together a toolset for my boss, including this tool. I looked at UBCD4Win, but couldn't really see anything there which would do what I'm after. Cheers guys, Ges. |

Gparted
I don't get why #3 is important.. this one is based on Linux but boots of a LiveCD, can't ask for much better than that. |

partition magic is still good, but paragaon partition manager is the best i've used, can convert dynamic _>basic without data loss, this is the only one i've seen do it.

The reason number 3 is important is because it's going to get stuck on a pendrive and used on client sites. Some of our clients are scared of the devil-worshipping Linux heathens :(
Already have a Debian Live Boot CD here with gparted on it, but I'm not allowed to use it (for fear of exorcism/witchburning etc...) :( edit: typo |

Well, you're growing, resizing, shrinking and moving partitions around - I think that's enough to be scared about let alone being scared of a tool that does all this (and does it very well), is supported by the community, is constantly under development to improve features and any bugs which may popup and of course is free.
If something similiar was for Windows it probably came from a site ending in .ru and will make your browser goto midget porn every 2 minutes. Your boss and/or client are r-tards. |

I'm going with clients (boss is actually pretty cool :D Much better than my last one), and only some of them. The vast majority don't mind what we use at all, as long as it works.
Might just carry a Debian CD around with me and make the fundamentalist Windows zealots go pay for something like Paragon or Partition Magic.. call it an idiot tax :D |

I have people at work who carry on about how crap Linux is and it's not an enterprise product, etc, etc until I point out the stuff they use daily is all based on Linux (Wiki's, Nagios, Cacti, Asterisk, MySQL, etc)

I have had gparted stuff up. So back up first.
That's the problem with open source, 0 support is 0 support. I tried to report the problem, and they argued with me that it wasn't a problem instead of going jeez maybe we should find that bug. |

I'd agree, but its not like you can do a lot wrong when expanding a partition on to non-partitioned space of the same disk ....

Acronis Disc Director is an awesome set of harddrive tools. I think it might have a free version or trial period, I could be wrong though.
