Hey guys,

Looking to rent some form of place for a fri/sat night in a few weeks. Just for a few mates to go have a few drinks/relax etc. Anyone have any good ideas? Looking for maybe something on the beach - something private like a townhouse or something. Don't want to be cooped up in a unit or anything. Happy to drive of course!

If you are honestly just hanging out with mates why don't you look away from the Coast, there are some really nice areas in the hinterland.

I am open to anything really. A picturesc place would be ideal. I am thinking a really nice house or something with a view - with some form of activity walking distance - ie walk along the beach, rainforest or something. Money is less of a restriction, but nothing over the top.
Anyone have any good sites i could look up for this kinda thing?

Can't go past Maleny, Montville, etc - you could always grab the boys and a few tents and go camping up there instead or at various other places around. It'll save you some dollars and you still get to drink copious amounts of piss.

my friend rents a house at sunshine beach or sunrise beach (one of the two) up near noosa regularly, walk to the beach and little shops and stuff, sounds awesome :) and it's like a 5 min drive to noosa.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive.. BUNYA MOUNTAINS! very beautiful - can rent houses up there. Very nice in winter... wood stove, few drinks... good winter weekend

I did something similar yeaaaaaaars ago in either Montville or Maleny - I suspect the former, but can't remember for sure. Was great fun.

OK then, though I'm still suspicious :P I would thoroughly recommend somewhere up the Sunshine Coast, but I think Maleny/Montville/etc. are more suited to the quiet romantic type of getaway, and since you're going with some mates, you'd be better off staying in a unit on the beach around Mooloolaba or something - somewhere you are convenient to shops/movies/arcade/beach/bars/other people. Then take a day trip out to Maleny and poke around.

If your budget can stretch, go to the Barossa and do a wine tour
